It's really weird to see them try to market something that to a regular user is exactly the same as some sort of revolutionary new change.

Talk about battery life or something.

The difference between how fast processors were gaining in speed during the PPC -> Intel transition vs Intel -> ARM is light-years apart.

Very true but I still don't trust the developers of some of the super small audio plugins I use to port them over.

I guess I should just accept that I'm going to have to start using different tools and change my workflow. Again...

That was always going to be the case. Building a mobile architecture to scale up to compete with 16 core CPUs and discrete GPUs was always going to be the MUCH harder task, and the energy efficiency savings just isn't as valued on the Pros.

It's basically just an iPad with the screen on a hinge.

Was kinda hoping for a fan. You can have it off 99% of the time but its useful to have.

E: the new mini has a fan so that's good

I haven't been up to date with the new A-series chips in the iPads. Does the iPad Pro edit 4K video streams without breaking a sweat as well?

No price cut on the Air, I imagine that pattern will hold across the line

Apple about to double those margins on the Mac...

I couldn't tell if it was that or they were saying due to the processor it's "better"

$999 is a nice price point - that's gotta have 8 GB of RAM, maybe 256GB SSD?

I have a 2018 mini, it's a nice complement to my main PC workstation and I can use the same keyboard/mouse/monitors.

PC for work (game dev) and games; Mac for creative work and music.

Hey - I did it on my 2018 and saved a bundle vs the Apple tax. Might be the same deal on this rev. Just minorly scary :)

Depending on the app you use, apparently yes. The hardware accelerator built into the more recent A-series chips cuts through 4K faster than much beefier MBPs/iMacs/Mac Pros with dgpus.

One of the photography youtubers I follow basically switched over from iMac to iPad Pro last year and appears to love it. That or he’s getting a healthy paycheck from the Lumafusion people to keep hawking them incessantly
