My stoic corn farmer of a grandad who grew up through the depression and WW2 says this is probably the hardest year he's ever seen. That's gone a long way towards making it easier for me to be okay with not being okay at times.

Despite working from home 4-5 days a week in my study that houses all of my music gear, I think I've gone from playing twice a week to maybe once a month. Just no motivation to do anything other than work, drink and aimlessly scroll while not watching tv - and I live in a place that has functionally eliminated the virus and never had community transmission to start with. I can't imagine what it's like over there.

I mean, I'm just a PhD who has dabbled in mil-civ affairs in a historical context but: removing the civilian leadership and replacing it with loyalists more likely to do your bidding when you decide it's time to start using the military to quash any protests against you SEEMS like it would be ripe for people in the military to figure out where their loyalties lie.

Gonna hop off for a bit for mental health but I worry about how to walk the very fine line between: trump is having a toddler's meltdown, ignore him, and we should really be taking the sudden unrestrained transformation of very important departments seriously as it's a prelude to some really bad poo poo.
