A shame he didn't live long enough to reprise his role of Aku in the final season of Samurai Jack.

I've watched a few of those videos and IDK if that cat ever does anything more than stand on one button or two right next to each other.

The cat just knows it gets attention when it steps on buttons.

This really doesn't seem like an accurate characterization of what this cat does. This particular cat, billi, has upwards of a dozen different word buttons which it clearly and purposefully uses.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM0y-D3ycpA

I'm not particularly interested in arguing whether it really "understands" or whatever. But I'm pretty well convinced the cat is intentionally selecting the word play when it wants play, outside when it wants to go outside, food, noise, pets, and so on. What's much more uncertain is how the cat interprets sounds like later, happy, and mad. But it these sounds clearly mean something to the cat, something it wants to communicate to its human.

Now dogs it seems like are much more capable of learning to use many words, and are much better at stringing them together to convey new information. Again of course its hard to tell how they interpret abstract ideas, but hey, it can be hard to tell that with humans sometimes too

Barbarian was a masterpiece of cinematography and unorthodox storytelling, perfectly cast and scored. It's absolutely one of a kind and Hollywood will probably never make a big budget movie like it ever again.

Like for a large plurality of goons the dude penned the soundtrack to some of our childhoods most iconic films:

Conan movies
Red Dawn
Iron Eagle
Robocop
Hunt for Red October
Quigley Down Under
Flight of the Intruder
White Fang
Wind
Starship Troopers

...to name a few.....

That's where my money is, too.

It falls down because: under what circumstances would we consider the animals to have "said" nonsense? You can ascribe meaning to just about any random combination of button pushes. And for the ones you can't, it's "oh, you're being silly! Good joke!". That's exactly what happened with Koko the gorilla.

And then, how do you know that the animal actually wanted the particular thing you did? How do you know they're not just happy to eat food when they actually wanted cuddles? What about more abstract concepts? If they step on "pets" "later", how do you know that, if you pet them later, whether or not they connect it with the earlier event?

And are you writing it all down? All the times you or the animal presses a button and what you or the animal do in response? Or are you only recording and uploading to YouTube the highlights which clearly illustrate that you've trained the animal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias)?
