Ergo this Sera has issues with defrosting, all Seras have issues instead of this specific 25+ year old car might be different. It does make sense, but I haven't heard of any issues besides that single video so, you know.

The only complaint I ever heard was the heat/AC struggles a bit at the extremes just because of the massive expanse of glass in the cabin. Agree that RCR often gets stuff weirdly wrong.

I enjoy RCR because they talk about cars and I learn stuff but ITT I'm the dude who claims zero knowledge on the subject, so.....

I think Roman needs to learn from Brian about the usefulness of doing multiple drafts and editing

To get back to the Sera for a sec, does anybody have any experience with the HVAC on them? I guess having a weak AC is the problem you'd experience, not defrost problems, but I come from the land of ice and snow (and there are no hot springs, none) so problems on the defogging/defrosting side is just something my brain considers first

We're in opposite land of fire and death, and the AC, once converted and serviced was cold enough to fog the window in the area you point the vent at on the door. There is a lot of glass but our brief time driving it just seemed like a stylistic quirk rather than a thing that wormed it's way into your driving experience. It included the sun shades up top too so it wasn't like the sun was on you unless you wanted it to be.

Defrosting I can't help you with as fire and death, but it seemed plenty hot when we tested it.

I do watch regular car reviews and like it plenty, but not at all from a car information angle. When he talks about deeper stuff like where society was when that Galaxy 500 they drove was made, or when they do those deep dives into Corvette history and the people involved. Good poo poo. Literary exercises with the flavor of car but not a place to actually pull info from. When they review a kei can and pronounce it 'key' even though the license plate on the front of the thing says 'k van' :argh:

It's ~WINE~ colored (aka maroon), extremely clean and has the cool factory bullbar/foglight combo already along with the rear spare tire holder. This is the best second-gen Hilux Surf you could get, potentially the best 4Runner as well depending on who you ask. The 3VZ makes Subarus nervous when you pull up alongside one. They have even more of an appetite for head gaskets than an EJ251 that left the factory without coolant.

Isn’t the 3VZ also famous for having a pulley over the coolant inlet? For some stupid loving reason? So you have to drain coolant to change a belt?

Also I think I’ve heard the phrase ‘when you want the power of a four cylinder with the fuel economy of a v8’ multiple times. It’s a lovely engine compared to its successor.

The 3vz has an exhaust crossover pipe that's hilariously poorly engineered and basically surrounds one of the rear cylinders, all but ensuring that you'll eventually overheat on that cyl and pop your HG.

Also replying to Wilfred I have no idea I have never seen one (that’s why I had to have it) listed as an elf and those are usually the heavy duty big boy vans and trucks but I see a fargo floor mat.

It could have a cover in one of the many access panels can’t wait to see port pics. And not listed as 4wd but those front hubs sure have my hopes up

Inspection said it was great and translation on bucket says “do not hang from bucket). Cold ac, diesel, manual and it has outriggers and 36k verified miles

Won this 4wd Daihatsu dump with AC last night, have multiple bids in on things tonight.

Stupid drivers always breaking car, Gronk fix car...
Finally got my 86 S80 Hijet sold, I ended up dismantling the dump bed 4wd one that was beyond rusty and grafting the 4WD into a 2WD normal bed. Technically I'm a gasket set and distributor away from making a 2WD "convertible" top dump bed, but why even both with 2WD and hydraulic dump?

In more news, my $1200 2002 S210P Hijet runs, poor thing is so rough that I'm surprised it has any compression left. The air filter probably disintegrated years ago, and its slowly been eating both the pleated paper and the metal mesh over God knows how long. It ended up needing a new pump, and since it is returnless, a new in-tank regulator. Used a 93 Corolla fuel pump kit (the sock matched even!) and a 2003 Corolla fuel pressure regulator. I need to get the injectors cleaned, and figure out why sometimes it barely runs and other times it feel pretty peppy. EF-SE, coil-on-plug, and single range 4WD with diff lock. Its so nice to have a heater and air conditioning.

edit: Anyone need any new in box S80-81-83-110 parts? I probably have a dozen set of parking light lenses, some turn signal lenses, complete tail light assemblies, random clips, and some outside trim parts. Even 2 EB pistons, they'd make great paperweights if nothing else.

:eng101: all of those will be the cab and (bare) chassis, except for non-dumping flatbeds. Same for all cab-over commercial vehicles 3.5 metric tons GVW on up. So this van-crane thingy is custom from a body-builder. Might be an old electric company truck? But I don't know who's paint scheme would be yellow with black and white.

To clarify, the ones you see here are custom builds from specialists, but they're available on monocoque van bodies that never had a chassis cab option (like the Renault Kangoo).
