I have a 2012 Mini base right now. I like it, it's pretty fun to drive and when I drove it to Indy for the 500 last year (from Massachusetts) I got over 40mpg with it. I get about 35 for an average with my normal driving. I'd say the interior is about the same as a 1991 Camaro I had, size wise. The front seats are pretty comfy, plenty of headroom and it has a back seat but no human adult with legs could actually sit in those seats. I'm only 5'10" and the driver's seat is almost touching the rear seat when sitting normally. I honestly never considered getting one because I hate the center dash display, but my wife test drove one and I rode along and realized there is a tach and info screen that tells you everything you need to know mounted above the steering wheel and I was all for it. My wife didn't end up buying the car we test drove but like a year later I bought the one I have now. My only complaint is that it is a BMW and all parts are insanely expensive. I either bought a lemon or all their parts start failing before 100,000miles. Alternator, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, air conditioning recharge, clutch, all done before 100,000 miles. I would buy another one, but I would not buy one that is over 5 years old.

With the Mini, BMW somehow managed to capture both the essence of British built motoring and experience of the finest German life-limited parts in one little yellow citrusy package.

I'll echo this: I had an 03 Mini S with a 6spd manual and it was a lot of fun to drive. Unfortunately it was a complete pain in the rear end to keep running and I ended up selling it so I could buy a Corolla. That's the exact opposite.

I just found out about the RUF RXL and I'm pretty sure it was designed using a regular 911 clone and the panorama function.

Definitely the awesome thread, the 87 was a follow on to the world's first serially produced aero car, the 77. It is also full of rad poo poo like dry sump, fully independent suspension, magnesium alloy engine, transmission and body. In 1934. It's also luxurious as gently caress and still looks better than the vast majority of car designs that came after. After having seen one up close and personal I am a convert. Stunning car.

Judging by the clothing and sandy as hell water, plus LHD, probably someone in the UAE that can afford to replace it 1,000 times over without even flinching. Pretty shocked it's still running at that point though. Looks like he drove it into the ocean. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 13:16 on Dec 2, 2020 |

I think your right, the clothes look like they are from an oil rich country where they can probably easily afford to replace their Toyota, but nobody can afford to replace their life. That said, I'm curious because you mentioned that it's LHD in your guess of UAE, but when I searched Google I see UAE is not listed as a country that drives on the left, Pakistan and Cyprus would be the closest countries that drive on the left but I don't believe they are known for having oil barons. I did pull a frame from the clip, it looks like the Toyota is suffering, but it's extremely blurry: I can hardly make out the gauges, but I think it might be this panel from a 70 series Landcruiser: So, they almost out fuel, their *EDIT* I messed up. Because 99% of the world is LHD, I assumed that since you were pointing out which side they drove on it would be important and easy to identify that they were in one of the rare RHD countries. Of course, my careful examination of the video should have made it obvious that this was not the case but sometimes broke brain poo poo happens. Abu Dhabi (which isn't part of the UAE, but still oil rich) is a LHD area. UAE appears to be LHD. This says they drive on the right side of the road, which would line up with it being LHD.

Trying to ford flash flooded wadis is a common enough pasttime in the Arabian peninsula. Could be the UAE or Saudi Arabia, The video quality is a little too low to read the destinations on the GPS. These dudes were probably out camping and got caught out by a flash flood on the way back, because wadis can swell far beyond the obvious erosion marks. The car is probably a land cruiser pickup. ^^UAE is LHD, and Abu Dhabi is part of the UAE. Rigged Death Trap fucked around with this message at 16:07 on Dec 2, 2020 |
