Didn’t Freep have a pretty strong anti-Santa bent for a while a few years back? I could swear I recall reading posts about how Santa was taking away the spotlight from Jesus and kids were being brainwashed to take the Christ out of Christmas and Santa would become the central figure of the dreaded “X-Mas” that would replace Christmas as a secular anti-god holiday

It hopefully wouldn't surprise you to learn that this was an area in which Comcast was clearly cutting costs as much as possible.

I mean it's not that weird, if you know what you want then it's not weird to say democracy sucks if it consistently doesn't get you what you want. And you can apply exactly that same reasoning to the fact that it keeps returning lovely right wingers too, the idea that the process is sacrosanct is a very weird one and one I think the right has a much better grasp of the absurdity of. The specific things they want lend their criticism of democracy to be that it gives votes to the wrong people or about the wrong things, while the left criticism is usually the opposite, but the specific idea of criticizing the system for its outcomes is entirely correct, I think. If you believe the system keeps returning lovely politicians who do nothing but make your life worse, why would you have any stake in it? And that's kind of at the core of the conditions that produced trump and will continue to produce people who want someone like that.
