3D Megadoodoo posted:Oh so it leaking inside a wall is better than it leaking where you can immediately spot it? My neighbors two houses to the East bought the place maybe four years back. The previous owner was an older woman who was moving a few houses down the road; she told them that she never used the upstairs bathroom because she had trouble with the stairs. After they moved in, they noted a smell in the basement. Lo and behold, behind some stuff that the home inspector couldn't move in order to check, the stack was literally no longer continuous. A huge chunk in the middle had rusted out, and while most of the waste went straight down into the lower portion, enough spattered off the edge to make cleanup ... memorable. It was at this point that I became happy my PO only lied about water getting into the basement.

Cool beans, thanks for the feedback. I'll assume that the brand name on (1) doesn't mean much then. The point about cabinets/drawers vs chests is a good point, and I hadn't thought about that. I'm now much more interested in (1), assuming that the drawers aren't broken. Thanks!

Oh yeah in regards to the brand tbh I hadn’t heard of Lehigh Leopold before. It does seem to be acknowledged among dealers as high quality. I think it was probably meant to be executive grade office furniture. But it doesn’t have the kind of brand hype that inflates the price like you’d expect from Knoll, Herman Miller, etc. The exception is I saw some Lehigh Leopold pieces designed by Warren Platner and Ward Bennet in my research that are really rad and worth a ton since they can be connected to big time names like that. But that credenza you posted doesn’t appear to be designed by either of them. uncloudy day fucked around with this message at 19:37 on Dec 1, 2020 |

OK I'm gonna say a bad mosaic is the most ugly thing that you can have as part of an interior. Nothing else will gently caress up a room like a bad mosaic.

Are you just browsing it daily or do you have any tips to filter through the mountains of garbage? This one is from Target. These are from Stoffer Home. This one is from the Vintage Rug Shop, a local shop in Oakland. It took ages to arrive, though. For more budget friendly downloadable art, I like BFF Print Shop, Juniper Print Shop and Museum Quality Art. Etsy can be decent as well but takes forever to sift through. By now, Facebook marketplace knows me well enough to make good recommendations. For Craigslist, I usually just search for the specific materials ("marble", "travertine") and see what comes up. Definitely have more luck on Facebook than Craigslist. I'll also sometimes search by brands I like. Hope that helps .

I’ve found that if you start finding local artists and thrift stores on Instagram that they will tag and mention other artists and you can slowly build a list of people to follow.

Don't a lot of places have these corny little German towns? Ours is Helen, GA The Alp-alachian village. It's actually pretty nice, right next to the river and some great parks. I think they stopped letting you go tubing down the Chattahoochee with a keg though.

Hell yeah, Helen rules with its hot pink $5 Flea Market Tubing! I got so many sunburns there. They did a whole revitalization project a little while ago and made it more suburban fancy and less trashy fun, though.

The colour is Benjamin Moore Oasis Blue, but in electric light it's distinctly green. To be honest, when the painter and I were looking at colours I did say I preferred shades that threw people into confusion and argument about whether it was blue or green, because I am a horrible person.

Wasabi the J posted:That's striking me as a green, but I'm a 30 something cis dude on an OLED and make me second guess myself. The only part of it is a statistically higher rate of colorblindness among people with a single X chromosome. The rest is really just a lot of cultural information ingrained to the point that people don't really think about it. Like to my eyes the top of the wall looks green, while the bottom looks blue, but knowing it's all the same paint my brain calls it a peacock blue because those kind of saturated, jewel tone green-blues are usually associated with peacocks. Color is ultimately highly, highly subjective so most of the 'knowledge' of it (that isn't coming from a spectrophotometer) is just having a base understanding of what the cultural consensus on a given shade is. Like if I say Barbie pink a specific color probably pops into your head, but Barbie as a brand has used a bunch of different pinks over the years not to mention stuff that's just been labeled that but is otherwise unassociated with Mattel. We think of it as one color, but it's really more of a range we just kind of elide together in our heads.

An actual hide holds up pretty well, same as the leather on your furniture does. The fuzz will wear off eventually with friction, like how a rug gets bare patches. Also I never want a house big enough for a bathroom sofa, but still want a bathroom sofa.
