this is the same problem I have with Lynch's Inland Empire. I even tracked down a blu-ray! The movie looks TERRIBLE no matter what you watch it on because it was shot on video. Even though it's a great movie!

I think I'm a lot more forgiving of lovely quality as long as the film is good, Inland Empire being the perfect example, that's maybe my favourite Lynch film, definitely top three with Blue Velvet and Eraserhead.

it was shot on digital, on a consumer grade handheld.

Pull me out

There are definitely sections of Inland Empire where the fact that it looks like someone found an SD card in a basement adds to the overall creepy atmosphere. There are also sections where it's hard to see what's happening and it just looks kind of bad.

I love Inland Empire, but I'm glad that Lynch got to work on film again

I enjoyed it

but we all had the same question, whose loving high school has a cryo chamber. Like, what? Might as well have an MRI machine and a nuclear reactor. They must *really* take football seriously. I joked that it must be Betsy Devos High. They must have really wanted to do a "freeze and smash" kill which has been done before (yeah yeah people have been stabbed before too)

Piss of metalheads? Check

I'm a huge metalhead myself and I love KISS and I think Ghost are pretty good, but I love when both bands piss off "trve kvlt" metalheads.

The new Christopher Landon film Freaky is available now on VOD

I completely get if you were tired of his brand of horror comedy after Happy Death Day 2U. But 1) I'm not, I could watch both Happy Death Days a billion more times each and not get sick of them, and I'm very happy he recently announced he finished the script for the third one, and 2) more of that type of horror comedy is present in Freaky

Not as good as the Happy Death Days, but I still adored it. More than I expected to in fact? I really really don't like Vince Vaughn but here he wound up being entertaining. Kathryn Newton's the real star/surprise though

Vaughn in Freaky is just such terrific stunt casting—but it's also neat that the movie is a riff of Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis in the adult role, so there's a whole other layer. Definitely going to catch the flick in the next couple weeks.

Just watched Anything for Jackson on Shudder, and it was pretty good! It’s a borderline horror/comedy that doesn’t quite lean into the comedy part enough for my taste (it’s got some absurd bits but I never really laughed or anything), but it’s inventive and original and has a lot of fun parts. It seems like it’s going to be a slow burn at the start but it gets pretty wild before long.

It isn’t movie of the year or anything but it was a pleasant surprise.

I have seen Yob live before and do enjoy Bongripper now and then but that's not really my thing. Despite being 22 I'm a boomer when it comes to metal. Van Halen, Rob Zombie, Motley Crue, Dokken, AC/DC, Korn, Motorhead, Guns n Roses, etc.

I don't really like the heavier genres of metal. When I wat heavy music I listen to hardcore and crust punk.
