Boxman posted:I think if you hold the button down it'll kick the engine off in the same way. I looked it up specifically when Prisuses were having the "stuck throttle" issue some years back, but a quick google suggests its standard across the industry. You can hold down the button to turn off the engine but you can also (thankfully) press the button 3 times in rapid succession to turn it off as well. They made sure to build in a "panic button presses" mode to push starts.

The Goiana source had nothing to do with a gamma knife. Gamma knife is a specific form of radiotherapy, the whole point is that you use a bunch of different sources that emit collimated beams and you place the patient so that the beams all meet at the tumor site. So the tumor is being exposed to a couple of hundred beams of gamma radiation, and anything that isn't tumor is being exposed to only a single beam of gamma radiation. The individual sources used in a gamma knife are about one TBq of cobalt-60. The Goiana source was over 50 TBq of Cs-137 at the time of the incident. Can anyone read the writing on the mysterious death canister or on that piece of paper? The red glow and ability to set things on fire and heat metal objects to incandesence makes me think it is an infrared source, not anything ionizing. This would also explain the light bulb dimming when he points the source at it: the infrared goes through the clear glass, and heats up the filament, which increases its resistance leading to a drop in current.
