oh but seriously I posted:

Janeway deserved a better show. Archer frankly didn't deserve the scraps he was given.

Given how good Trek's animated ventures have historically been, I've got some cautiously optimistic hopes for Prodigy.

Well, now I wonder if either show would have been better swapping Janeway and Archer.

I mean, it would be hard to make Enterprise worse but I feel like Voyager suffers more in this swap.

Janeway would have had the Xindi season wrapped up in a two parter. Archer would have dragged Year of Hell out for an actual year. Kathryn Janeway gets poo poo done, Jonathan Archer gets his poo poo pushed in.

This may or may not be correct.

Give me an ENT Season 5 in which Archer gets kicked upstairs to an admiral's desk and Hernandez gets moved over to Enterprise from Columbia.

I liked Bakula even if I didn't really like Archer but as a recurring guest admiral I think he really would've shined.

Scott Bakula is basically the only reason I don't hate Archer as a character. That man broke his back trying to carry Enterprise's lovely writing as far as he could. He's a drat hero in my eyes :patriot:

Also Archer's Theme is the best leitmotif in all of Star Trek. Fight me, nerds.

Would Archer have blown up the Caretaker or used it to wrap up the series in one ep?

Archer always cuts the Gordian Knot in the worst possible way, so yeah he would have rode the Caretaker array back to DS9 and shot off a torpedo that exploded in the shape of a middle finger so that the Ocampa could see it before he left.

Crewman Daniels would tell him not to blow it up and return to the Alpha Quadrant in order to preserve the timeline. Archer would blow it up out of spite.

Well, of course I know him.
He's me.
Archer was a raging rear end in a top hat in season 1, but became more of a bumbling failson doofus after that, so it’s tough to completely hate him even though the character kinda deserves it. Definitely helps having someone as genuinely charismatic as Bakula playing him though. I assume that’s (along with probably great ratings from a boomer viewer base) partly why his NCIS spinoff has lasted 30 seasons or whatever.

I've seen the occasional clip of NCIS: New Orleans with Bakula and I have to admit a part of my brain always goes "You know, I could see myself watching this for Bakula alone" before the rest of my mind turns into Galadriel screaming herself out of reaching for the One Ring.

Or Janeway told the whole truth and Starfleet Command, the hosed up collective of fart-huffing dipshits they are, made her a vice admiral on the spot because she was their kind of hosed up.

It's unintentionally quite good that Archer becomes a bumbling failson but Bakula has such charisma that he basically sells is so that I can go 'okay yeah, everyone know's he's a bumbling dumbass but he's just so earnest they keep giving him a pass and promoting him'.

rewatching voyager for the first time since it originally aired when i was a kid and--in the third season now--it truly is a wretched show every bit as boring and bad as i remembered

Janeway carries the entire weight of that shitshow on her ice cold shoulders, voyager was a disservice to Mulgrew

Or she was a hero in the eyes of the public for getting the ship home (maybe the plucky ship Voyager was a feel good story while the Dominion War was going on), so they kicked her upstairs so she’d never command a ship again.

Once they could split them up they should have used the Tomas Riker thing to clone people and then started feeding more people into the transporter to see if there were any other great combos they could come up with. Maybe a Chakotom Paris, or a Vorikim, or even a
B'Elanna Tor'Kes. Just go crazy with it.
