cyberpunk 2077 is trash. prolly fun to play once the bugs are worked out but otherwise complete and total cultural trash, transphobic, and the company is basically explicitly trying to cause people to have seizures while playing it.Guavanaut posted:The HP LaserJet 4+ will never die. The world will run out of paper and carbon powder and someone somewhere will be living in a shack writing updated drivers. fun fact hp is one of the few laser printer companies that uses iron in a lot of their toner products, instead of just carbon. as a result you can print onto slip sheets and fire them onto pottery in a kiln, leaving a brick reddish / black permanent image on the product as the iron migrates into the glaze. as for basic cheap printer chat, i'm also a fan of the basic brother laser printer, whichever one has wifi so you don't need to hook it up to anything. as you run out of toner you can probably shake the cartridge a few times to get more sheets out of it. you can buy cheap toner replacements but i opt for name brand as i've read far too many reviews where people have cartridges break in the printer and spew toner onto everything. they're expensive but last for literally thousands of pages so i look at it as an acceptable cost. i don't recommend thermal printers unless you need them; they require special paper, and that paper is usually coated in part with bisphenol-A, a probable endocrine disruptor: there are associations but not necessarily known causal links (still, you should try to wash your hands after handling receipts). as mentioned they also fade over time, and will turn completely black if you leave them in sufficient heat, like the dashboard of a car

With regard to the sea border; it's better for us than one with the Republic as anyone who remembers the Troubles knows what border posts lead to as regards violence (possibly an overreaction by me but whatever).... could be either side that starts it but the end result is always crap. We can't even vote for any mainland UK party over here.

Only one Tory in my life and it's the friend of a friend that has a crush on me. He's otherwise a funny, attractive guy with a lot of the same passions as me but by god get him on anything to do with politics and it's just a complete shitshow of godawful, unignorable hot takes. This only really came out post-Brexit, before then it wasn't obvious. I call him on it every time and he'll dig in and double down, or if he's really pinned laugh it off in a "oh well, maybe I don't know what I'm on about then" way as if it's all just a joke, when we're talking about something like, I dunno, immigration or something where lives are at stake. HATES Corbyn like he was responsible for personally murdering his family but unclear on exactly why, (aren't they all)? Severing's not really an option because he lives with my best friends but like I said it would be easy if everything else about him wasn't really good, it's just... everything he seems to believe. Such a shame. I got dumped and ghosted during Covid by the love of my life and I've had six months of fretting over being trapped on terf island with what now looks like it might be long covid symptoms or just the daily dripfeed of cortisol that comes from agonising over what the gently caress I did, and I could just go for some ill-advised rebound sex, but no. Toryism is unforgivable, no matter how fine you are.

I'm friends with a guy who has voted UKIP or Tory his entire life and he's one of the most gentle and good natured people I've ever known, he's just grown up in an environment where voting with the tabloids is the done thing. People can be messy and contradictory, especially if politics aren't an everyday part of their lives.

I had a friend who described himself as being conservative in that special, mind bent way where he had selected a five minute window of history where the party claimed to be about fiscal responsibility, and decided he agreed with that and so was conservative. He disagreed with every real world conservative government though, especially Osborne and Cameron who he freely admitted were corrupt and absolutely hammering the sick and vulnerable. But he still voted conservative, because that was the party he agreed with in principle, despite acknowledging that the leadership of successive governments were not working towards the goals he apparently agreed with. Oh, and he grew up in the UAE.
