There's always the possibility that Boris will just cave at the last minute so he can get some good "Last minute negotiations brought the EU to their knees" headlines from the usual scummers. I'm not sure I'd want to bet on it either way, mind you.

Wachter posted:I don't know anything about finance, but is the potential for deregulation outside the EU good or bad for said money-laundering enterprise? It depends on the trade deal, it's not expected to be great but even with no deal it's not supposed to be as bad as for manufacturing. The difficulty there being a lot of the finance/law/insurance stuff was helped by the UK being an english-speaking member of the EU with open and well-established financial infrastructure. Anyway I wouldn't disregard the UK being a cultural powerhouse, ignoring the domestic market (b/c China) it's probably third in the world after US and Japan. So, hyperbole aside, on a scale of 'things get moderately more expensive and there's another round of austerity cuts' to 'regional social collapse and a fullblown economic depression leading to a popular fascist street movement' how bad do people think a no-deal brexit is genuinely going to be?

People keep trying to find a pattern or logic but the problem is there isn't really one with this particular group of Tories because unlike Cameron, May and their lot these ones are just not very good at their jobs. They're not smart, they're not bright, they're lazy they're just.... not very good. They're only there because they picked the unpopular side that none of the competent ones went for (Brexit) and got lucky on that. They're just a bit poo poo, it's a waste of time to look for the logic, or the long game because they're just that pretty average lazy kid at school.

That depends what you think their job is. If it's funnelling money to their mates and facilitating a No Deal Brexit they're very good at it. I'm stockpiling Warhammer, I forsee Primaris Space Marines being legal tender in the after times.

There are a lot of miniature manufacturers in the UK, disproportionate to the size of the population. Being English probably makes it easier to attract international custom. Nearly all of these are manufactured locally. I think you might be on to something here. Maybe I shouldn't close down my garage miniature business.

Pro-Tip: I went to get Anusol (hemorrhoid treatment) since it's handy to have and only certain ones are safe for preggos to use. All my local pharmacies (and the nearby major Boots) are sold out of it. Supposedly there has been a massive demand for it from March onwards. Likely due to people all working from home for some unknown reason. If you want something that won't perish that you might need, just go and see if you can get some.
