My original worst second OP was Kaidoku Funou for Code Geass, an absolute mess compared to Jibun Wo~ Then came Crazy Rainbow as the worst follow-up to One Piece's short-lived BRAND NEW WORLD The Twelfth OP Opening is the one I absolutely hate above all else. And the first timeskip OP was the most dissapointing. Which was around the time I stopped watching the anime cause I had enough of Toei. i'm guessing some of the time it's driven by them having a deal with the record company to promote multiple songs, so even if they get a really good one they have to swap it out for cour 2.

From what I understand OP/EDs are all about single sales except in a few rare cases like Jojo EDs where the production team wants a specific song and pays for the rights to it.
