I, too, often get left and right confused.
Or at least that's the only thing I can assume, because this comment came right from the middle of dozens of replies screaming for insurrection, and even Freep isn't that selectively blind, right?
I assume that Freeper means "If SCOTUS had taken the case, the left would be burning down cities, so that's why they denied hearing it."
I’m confused what exactly they think the constitution has to do with this
Basically the Texas case was based on the argument that Article II of the Constitution says that the choosing of electors is a power given to the state legislatures, and thus only the legislatures have the power to change election laws within a state, not the governor or courts. Thus, they deemed it to be a constitutional violation, which in their minds would give Texas standing as a state to say "They didn't follow the Constitution, which harms all of us that held our elections properly."
The funny part is even if their argument held water (which it obviously doesn't), Texas itself violated the Constitution because their governor extended early voting by one week.

Where the Rapture is concerned, God's timing is set in concrete and only he knows the time, and History has been populated with much more severe and evil events than this election, no matter how much it hits home with us. Furthermore, I have always been of the mind to focus on the delivery of the Gospel over worrying about the Rapture as I have no control over that and no way to know when it is coming. Being a part of the process of saving men's souls seems to be the appropriate use of my time.
And yes, Prayer is the most important thing to pursue, but we are being irresponsible if we, as Christians, do not continue to pursue Liberty and Justice for all with all of the Tools left at our disposal by our Almighty Father.

You have to organize starting with your family.
Then friends.
Then neighbors.
My experience trying to organize tells me anybody who is capable of doing something isn’t going to tell you anything and that we will shatter. It will be every man for himself until we suffer enough to get over ourselves. Then we might come back together and start creating no go zones. Just like a virus, prevention is better than remedy. But my observation is that we’re choosing to go through hell rather than avoid it.

There are perfectly legal ways to stop paying taxes. And their results are a lot less painful than the way that is termed a felony.
The challenge is to get enough people willing to make the necessary sacrifices. Most people live in chronic debt and can scarcely imagine anything more horrid than to be separated from their employment and default, and thereafter live on an income beneath the threshold ($12k earned income, I believe). And yes you can survive on $12k a year.

When He downsized the Soviet Union I told some of my work family as we listened to the radio and talked it at lunch I told them I thought we would be next if we didn't change our spiritual direction and return to Him.
I thought that as had the Soviets the U.S.would be weakened from superpower status so we could not interfere with Israel and that God was setting them up so they would end up being the dominant power in the Middle East after the GoG Magog war.
I still do think this what is happening based on my years of very heavy Bible study especially Eze.38 & 39 I am just a retired industrial mechanic no preacher, no prophet.
Pray very hard President Trump, his family and all those who support and protect them . even/especially after the election. He is the only president "we the people" have really elected in many years that stood his ground and probably is the last one the people of this country will ever vote for.

Yeah Thomas and Alito said for a while that they feel that the SC is required to take all cases that are disputes between states, that they don't have the right to dismiss it outright, but they were very clear that they would not grant any relief requested in the trial and would essentially just let Texas present its arguments before they made a 9-0 ruling against Texas.
I just can't imagine how exhausting it must be to think literally everyone is on the side of evil and against you. I know it's probably more mental illness than anything else, even the ones who realized they got caught up in a cult of personality are more "Trump can holler all he wants but the election was stolen and he can't do anything about it" rather than "Guess we need to accept we lost."

It's really not, and I wish the internet (not just here, I see it all over, especially lately), would stop using "mental illness" as shorthand for "bigoted, racist assholes who delight in their own ignorance". Being a terrible person, or believing extremely stupid poo poo, are not symptoms of being mentally ill.
Not to call you out in specific, I'm just seeing it absolutely everywhere the past two weeks.

I feel like it sort of is definitionally given that it seems to cause them extreme mental distress and also antisocial behaviour. It is a counterproductive thinking pattern that they incapable of escaping to the point that it is arguably pathological.
Whether or not you care about that or not is entirely another question though. It also doesn't mean that all mental illnesses are the same.

If there is a pathological behavior in the medical sense, it is not in their views, however reprehensible, but in how they express them, like a somewhat older right wing version of poster brain as we see here at times.
This, more or less. Side-stepping the whole internet diagnosis thing, saying someone is mentally ill in this way also isn't done out of any genuine concern, it's a means of dismissing folks who behave this way or believe these things by essentially saying "oh, they're just crazy", and it's almost always meant to be insulting. It ties their behaviors and their beliefs to being mentally ill, and even if they have an actual diagnosed condition, that's still lumping them together with hundreds of different disorders. All anyone tends to hear when someone says 'this stupid racist says stupid racist things in an unbelievably dumb way, they're mentally ill' is 'mentally ill = stupid racists'. I know this comes off as harping, but it does incredible damage to people who are actually mentally ill, from contributing to them refusing to get treatment, to being victimized, to being outright murdered.
It's the same problem with how everyone gets Very Concerned about mental illness whenever a mass shooting happens, when it's actually a rare thing for a mass shooter to have been diagnosed with a mental illness (and you can't just go 'well, they're obviously crazy', that's not how this works), but it associates being mentally ill with being violent and dangerous, which is already a massive stigma, and then it all gets forgotten about until the next mass murderer turns up.

I can't decide which of these are my favorite. The Freeper losing their faith in God is amazing but so is the bald-faced "Go, start the revolution, I'll be right behind you!"
“So much for prayers. God just call-screens.” is going to stick with me for a while, not going to lie. It’s just such a legitimately great, over the top grim, line. It’s genuinely pithy and evocative. I want it to be in some kind of bleak noir movie now.
There’s also the mental image on God looking down at his phone, and going “ehh”. It’s great.
Gems like that are why I read this thread.

I suppose that it is more that it reminds me a lot of my experience with depression, in that it does cause me to engage in transparently self destructive and also antisocial behaviour, and the reason it does that is because in a perverse way I do actually like that, because it is a form of self harm. I certainly get the feeling that a lot of the extreme far right people are behaving in a similar way. They know that it is bad for them, on some level, that it alienates them from others, but they are not capable of acting otherwise because they have too many unhealthy behavioural habits and they do not have the necessary perspective or support group to form better behaviours, in part because I think their response to the alienation is to further rationalise it (wouldn't want to associate with commies anyway) and they also inhabit spaces that will help them to do that which only entrenches the behaviour and leads to worse political views as they encounter more and more things to need to write off. The unhealthiness may not originate their views but I think that sustaining them in the world as it stands necessitates the practice of unhealthy behaviours.
But I haven't yet found that viewpoint to be an obstacle to feeling antipathy towards them. Regardless of why they are the way they are, what they are is still antithetical to my preferred way of being. The observation is fairly academic, it clearly cannot be allowed to excuse their politics and I also don't think it has much bearing on people who experience mental illness without having garbage politics. The two, I think, interact with each other but I don't think illness causes bad politics, though I do think the converse may be true to a degree, in that I think the behaviours they exhibit are necessitated by their alienation due to their political beliefs, and this in turn may lead to worse beliefs.
Though fundamentally I don't really see much point in trying to determine the degree of agency someone might possess regarding their views as a proxy for determining their acceptability as people anyway.

The Donald has a thread looking for moderators, and it’s not funny in the way a lot of these posts are, but it’s kind of interesting if you’re anthropologically interested in right-wingers/chuds generally, because it’s about what they think the main issues with site are.
There’s a lot of stuff like “hey the anti-catholic sentiment isn’t cool”, followed by “go back to your pedophile rape church then!!”
