Thing is, if it was just Brexit then I'd sympathise with the "don't stockpile" message. The real reason to stockpile is the Covid Christmas Truce, which Covid is going to be very ungentlemanly about. Restrictions relax from 23 - 27 Dec, so allowing for 3-5 days incubation and 7 days of infectiousness, 26 Dec to 8th Jan will be the peak period for infectious Christmas cases. In the face of that, stockpiling food and not leaving the house over that time period should be encouraged.
