Which is stupid, but the lesser of two evils.

Get on Florida's level, where PRO WRESTLING is an essential business.

If I was a reporter covering Florida government I'd try and get my colleagues to only ask the World's Dumbest Man questions about wrestling at press conferences.

"Governor DeSantis, what do you think about Meltzer changing the star rating system for matches to include 6 and 7 star matches?"

"Governor DeSantis, do you think Mankind is more dangerous when he's winning or when he's losing?"

Etc. Just nothing, at all, but wrestling questions for the next few years.

on one hand, I like AEW, and if you're going to run weekly shows in an outdoor amphitheater then rigorous testing on all workers and spreading the 1,000 fans present way the gently caress out is the way to go

on the other hand, you did just fine without any fans in attendance, and you can surely afford to keep doing the thing where you pay existing workers and rotate younger prospects in/out by working on a closed set. 1K seats gross in a pandemic can't be a significant amount of income.

Australia is still struggling to figure out how to keep covid out while still allowing international flights, which are essential because of all the freight they bring in, plus there's still a lot of Australians stranded overseas who need to be brought back home.

quote:

A Sydney driver has tested positive to COVID-19, breaking the state's two-week run of no new locally acquired cases.

A 45-year-old man, who drives international and other aircrew to and from the airport, is the new infection.

Health authorities were informed of the positive diagnosis at 7am today, meaning the case will be included in tomorrow's figures.

The man works for Sydney Ground Transport in Alexandria and was responsible for helping airline crew with their baggage, including exiting minivans and buses.

He wore a mask the entire time.

The last case of community transmission in NSW was recorded on December 2, when a hotel quarantine worker at two Sydney hotels tested positive to the virus.

Health officials told reporters today the man likely contracted COVID-19 from international airline crew.

quote:

The man has three household contacts who have all been tested, with results expected in the coming hours.

The case worked several shifts while potentially infectious and visited a "sporting site" over the weekend.
https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/sydn...nout&li=AAgfYrC

E: I looked up the current rules about international flight crews and holy crap, we're lucky we haven't had more outbreaks

quote:

Australian air crew arriving in Australia after working on an international flight are exempt from hotel quarantine. They are required to self-isolate at their home or hotel until their next international flight departs, or for 14 days — whichever is shorter.

Foreign air crew are not required to enter hotel quarantine but must self-isolate at their hotel until their next flight and use privately organised transport to travel to and from their hotel.

Foreign air crew may fly domestically to their next point of departure from Australia if necessary.
They're reconsidering flight crew quarantines now

(CNN)Dozens of children spent time with Santa and Mrs. Claus during an annual Christmas tradition in a small town in southern Georgia.

Now officials in Ludowici, Georgia, must grapple with an unsettling aftermath: The guests of honor tested positive for Covid-19 two days after the event on December 10.
"It has now been brought to the attention of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as my office, that after the event both 'Santa' and 'Mrs. Claus' were tested for the Covid-19 virus and both received positive test results," said Robert Parker, chairman of the Long County Commission, said in a news release. "They were not displaying any symptoms at the time of the event."
After participating in the Long County Chamber of Commerce parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus were at a "well attended" tree lighting and an event where an estimated 50 children took a photo with Santa.

quote:

While Parker said in the news release that he speaks for the majority of the commission in saying that they plan to move forward with other holiday traditions to bring "some sense of normalcy" to the pandemic, he told CNN that there is "nothing else scheduled" for the remainder of the year.

So many people across the globe are going to spread covid because they tried to achieve "some sense of normalcy" and took a dumb risk.

Someone in Belgium thought it was a good idea to let Sinterklaas and his Black Petes visit a nursing home (although visits are extremely limited). 98 residents and 20 staff are now infected. It's not clear whether Sinterklaas was the superspreader, but he tested positive first. But it's definitely fun to look at the pictures and think he was!

Wondering if there might be some herd immunity soon among the Covidiiots. Seems that there are 2 populations in the US now: those that are in hiding and those that are living life as normal. If people are going to bars a few times a week how much longer can they go without getting Covid? At some point they all must be exposed to it. Perhaps numbers will drop sooner than expected...

Even the highest estimates I've seen project only 20% of the US population has been infected so far. We just need to triple that number and we'll all be good! I think we can do it by February and we'll all (ok, most of us tho) get to take SPRING BREAK AT DAYTONA BEACH WOOOOOOO!!!!
