It was good enough to get me to buy a VR headset, so that's enough in my book!

It's easily GOTY in an industry sense (rather than personal preference) especially after cyberpunk was born heavily flawed. Was a solo reason for many to buy a headset and for those gathering dust to be picked up again. What would be the pick otherwise?

Speaking of buying headsets - Valve needs to hurry up and get more shipments of Index sent out. I've been on the waitlist for like 4 weeks :(

At this rate I might actually beat Cyberpunk before it arrives.

I'm weighing moving from a Rift S to a Quest 2, can anyone offer their own experience with it? I do play a lot of PC VR so I would imagine I will need tether for a good chunk of it. On the other hand my house is hardwired with Cat6 and I can put a 5ghz AP in the same room as the headset so perhaps Virtual Desktop will be mostly usable? Or is trying to use Virtual Desktop super janky in practice?

My goal is to minimize wires as much as possible so the Index is out of the question. Waiting for a wireless index seems like it will take too long, Valve is just going through the feasibility stuff now so its probably 1-2 years away at best. I don't mind having to tether for the odd game if the cable isn't as bulky as the Rift S.

My only concern is that most of my stuff is in SteamVR and I have like...2 games on the Oculus store. I also don't use Facebook at all and have no plans to do so. I'm not looking to start a debate or anything, I'm just old and don't give a gently caress about it. I will never use their weird friends thing or store so does the forced facebook login poo poo even matter? Or are they going to make me do it to even get driver updates and etc?

Chiming in to say that I was able to get it. It took a while and I had to open an Oculus support account (which is different from FB/Oculus account) but it only took 2 messages all told. I don't think they get e-mails sent to them because I got a very quick response after responding to the support ticket via Oculus support (and the reason I opened it was because my e-mail response got no acknowledgement).

Still waiting for my Reverb G2 to finally ship, but with it being the middle of the month now, and still no update on these, I am starting to think my order will be pushed back to next month.

I went from Rift S to Quest 2, gave my Rift S away. I play all my PC games via Virtual Desktop in the lounge room (one room over from the PC) without issue (PC wired in, 5Ghz wifi, as you say). The wireless makes a massive difference, the friction for "hmm, maybe I'll play somethin in VR" is way way down.

Comfort was iffy until my whole configuration came together, ordered frankenquest adaptors to attach my old Vive DAS (with VRCover padding) and got a Quest 2 VRCover interface + foam replacements. Now it's like strapping a delicious leather couch to your head. Maybe a little front heavy, but not bothersome enough to make further adjustments. You'll have to get something other than the included strap.

Hmm ok thanks man. Did you get a 64GB Quest 2? Just weighing which SKU to get.

Appreciate the tips about the comfort. I do have a VR Cover for the Rift S and found it was fantastic so I'll get one for the Quest 2 as well. I see Oculus has some sort of premium strap so maybe I'll pick that up too.

So, Harvey, what became of the giant penny?

They actually let him keep it.
I was having some joystick drift on my Quest controller, so I used some WD-40 contact cleaner on it. The drift is gone, but now I have to press my home button as hard as I can for about 5 seconds to get it to register. Better that than motion sickness from randomly spinning in circles, I guess.

Yes I got the 64 because I was assuming Virtual Desktop would make onboard space irrelevant, which has been the case so far.

I see Journey of the Gods is on sale for $20. Is it worth it?

I’ve been more than happy with multiplayer games that have endless replay value. But i’m still hesitant to buy many of the single player games like Trover, Moss, The Room, etc.

In some applications, it’s better to use a lubricant, instead of a cleaner like wd-40. A lot of people make the mistake of using it on things like a bicycle chain.

Upgraded. Brought forward my old DAS which I've been using since forever, it's been on 3 different headsets at this point; Vive, Quest and now Quest 2. Adapters were 3d printed using some random from Treatstock, after receiving them I blow-dried the plastic to soften them and attached it so it conformed to the curves of the flaps on the Quest 2. Feels very secure now.

Also I like the AMVR straps, they don't appear to cause any skin irritation for me and are quite comfortable.

On the other hand, it looks like a very traditional game, not precisely something that is fully using VR.

Still not here - I spent 50 minutes on hold with Best Buy today. Apparently the Quest 2s were on backorder despite showing in stock so they were waiting on Oculus to ship them out before they could be sent to the stores for pick up. Still no ETA but supposedly "in the next few days". Which I've been told over and over again. I AM IN PAIN!!!

My initial support claim ticket was answered within 30.mins, and they asked my for a few more details then went quiet for a week. When I poked them again they added it to my account instantly with the same response as someone up thread. Looks like a cut and paste reply.

I could see outlets giving it to Fall Guys, TLoU2, FF7R or even Genshin Impact. It might be a struggle to find genuinely good new games this year but it's not too hard to find ones that someone might consider "important".

I just checked and I put in my initial order (through Steam as mentioned above) on 11/19. It pretty consistently went from 5-4-3 weeks until yesterday when I got the notification they send you to complete payment. And now I have a FedEx delivery for Saturday.

Over at Reddit they have a spreadsheet where people are tracking their progress, you can use it to get a sense of how fast things are getting shipped out. When I put in my order last month I figured I'd get it in January based on that sampling. It's in their megathread at the top:
