I think he can hear you, Ray.
Mike has said they're still friends, so it just seems like a professional relationship that ran its course. Given that he has been streaming, it's not hard to picture him saying ah I'm going to give this a go while you're off working with those other guys who keep showing up in all your videos.

It was maybe a little unceremonious mind, and it's a shame they couldn't just do one last video together given that Mike is the reason AVGN existed at all. But maybe that was just the way they both wanted it.

Keen on the hygiene and on the mission like a super technician.
When they announced their break from James and Mike Mondays earlier this year, James mentioned that they had gone years without taking a break from recording something, even though Mike had wanted one for a while. It sounds like that once the break happened, they were just okay with not recording together anymore, and that was that

I have no idea what, if anything, Mike Matei did on cinemassacre more recently than 2009 when he was Bugs Bunny etc, so it’s very possible that James and Mike Mondays was his only involvement.

I think Mike ran the youtube channel, at least for a couple of years.

Mike streams pretty much all the time now and gets a good few hundred viewers on average for it so I guess he's basically making it his fulltime deal. I presume he may crop up from time to time, kinda like how Dave does for Game Sack. All I hope is fine personally, but professionally it did seem like there was less space for him. I assume there's also something to say about setting up something now that's fully removed from Cinemassacre.

Ryan Schott is pretty much the man in charge there now I guess and has been for a while, Justin Silverman too. I met Ryan once -- very shy, but he's certainly quite proactive when it comes to Cinemassacre and Screenwave too. RetrowareTV has also just relaunched under his ownership.

It's amazing how it just barely scratches the surface of NV; it doesn't even go over the DLC (which unfortunately have too much involvement from Avellone)

Regardless of Avellone's personal shittiness, the DLCs are all fascinating in their own ways and the debates will never ever end.

he's definitely releasing a Christmas video this week, but apparently there's going to be another video in January

The Christmas video was done a while ago and has been available through his Patreon. He's said, many times, that he would like to produce about one video per month but I imagine stuff happens which complicates that running goal.

Which is fine. Online creators are under way too much pressure to keep content flowing at a steady pace. And in Hbomb's case, while he's only put our three videos in the last year, they have been 1h 37m, 2h 27m, and 2h 10m long. That's quite the chunder.

Edit: he and Shaun are just about the only people I can consistently stand making 2h+ long videos.

So eh what is going on with the "iceberg videos". Is it just a clickbaity, trendy way of saying "I explain something", like how people just ran with Hbombs "X is garbage and here's why"? I constantly see them pop in my recommendations.

Some are good effort attempts to explain fandom in-jokes and weird rear end concepts. Some are just bad creepy pasta. Even the best of the former have to end up telling you that the final level of each iceberg is always just bad creepy pasta.

There's a mod for that

https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/52037

There's plenty of other mods that'll let you play with the colors, remove the weird orange tint that the game has too.

Honestly I couldn't get into the game until I had several gigs of mods installed, cause good writing or not gently caress this engine.

Yeah, still doesn't do it for me, now it's just oversaturated light brown.

I understand it's part of the whole point, but the pallet and desolate world just aren't for me.

Didn't bother me in FO1 & 2, but something about it being in first-person breaks it for me.

Grimey Drawer
More than the color palette, my main problem with the Fallout aesthetic is that everything has to be so grimy and run-down all the time, even though it's supposed to be generations after the apocalypse. Even in supposedly wealthy areas, people still live in filthy rooms with cracked walls, paint peeling off, etc. Why don't people clean their homes and give the walls a fresh coat of paint? It makes no sense.
