As for the Kent Gammon who was complaining about 2 litre bottles of piss being thrown into his garden. WHAT IS WRONG WITH FLUID OUNCES? NEVER FORGET THE METRIC MARTYRS!!1 EDIT : Page Snipe 120 is the Atomic Number for Unbinilium. The Question IRL posted:So speaking of Martin Shkreli, this popped up on my Twitter timeline. After the furor about the massive price raise came out in the press, and the ensuing bad publicity, Turing, the company that manufactured the drug, reduced the list price by 50% (so still a 1000% markup over the old price) for insured patients and set the cost for uninsured patients who were below the federal poverty line to 1$/free. Uninsured patients above the poverty line were just hosed. So technically true, but they reversed the cause and effect. Old Kentucky Shark fucked around with this message at 15:13 on Dec 21, 2020 |

Jose posted:who the gently caress is his speech writer lmao The guy in the other Tweet you posted described his speech as being full of empty platitudes and yep. It comes off as being a bit cargo culty: a strong successful leader would give a speech on the Union at this point in their leadership, so Starmer had better do that. Who cares if its meaningless and rather annoys the people who its supposedly aimed at: a Speech has been Made and that's what matters.

The Europeans absolutely look upon us with envy. They wish they had weather and food as good as ours. Just wait until no deal Brexit happens and we're all sharing bread and dripping recipes, they'll really have egg on their face then.

Ignoring the insanely Brexity tone, it is probably true that we're suffering for finding it. It seems unlikely this did actually originate in London and Kent (i.e. where the vast majority of overseas arrivals come into Britain) and has been circulating here for four months without spreading across Europe if it's that transmissible. Of course going out and hyping it as ultra-COVID because you want to dodge blame the blame for cancelling Christmas was a political decision with incredibly predictable consequences.

I can't believe the EU came over here with a bucket of covid and dipped their hand in it and slathered it all over their body and ran naked through the streets of London chest-bumping everyone it encountered. And then goes back home and bans travel? What on earth was the EU thinking?

Yeah, it's hard to say if any single country is the author of this particular misfortune when Europe as a whole has spent the last calendar year doing some of the stupidest poo poo concievable under the premise of balancing safety vs preserving the economy. Spain and Italy both hosed it as bad as us and France and Germany aren't far behind, if anything it's just a particularly clear example of liberal capitalism's fundamental inability to deal with existiential crises.
