I am surprised and a bit disappointed that nobody is talking about Lando and his choice of magnificent capes! Or Agent Kallus and his remarkable helmet! I'm curious to see what their Flaw cards are, I wasn't expecting them both to get one.

If I didn't know otherwise, Kallus could be mistaken for a parody of SW design. Probably skipping that one. Lando getting multiple cape options is pretty great though.

LMAO I adore that they gave us 3 cape options on the sprue to kitbash into the closets of our Falcon playsets.

Lando's loyalty to Han was pretty questionable in ESB, and Kallas is a full on fulcrum agent. Kallas' is likely going to be to show mercy on units (like, he can't make attacks for a round or something,) and Lando's might be a "know when to fold'em" kinda thing, where is courage value gets compromised or something.

He was one of the primary antagonists of the Rebels cartoon early on, before Thrawn took over.

You later find out he was gifted it, as he's a Rebel sympathizer.

I'm still not sold on 3rd party minis, especially since I'm a scrub contrast paint user which needs that superfine detail to look great (the early soft plastics aren't great looking!) But I literally peeled my first 3D printed terrain piece off the plate this morning and oh man. No more felt circles and tissue boxes for this guy.

Anyone have some Legion focused podcasts or Youtube channels to recommend? I'm trying to get back in to playing after not touching the game since launch.

I enjoy The Legion Outriders Podcast. I’ll admit it might not be super in depth on strategy all the time but it’s a few relaxed guys just shooting the poo poo about upcoming releases and Star Wars in general.

I think War Corgi is a pretty good youtube channel. Fairly low key and PG rated, which can sometimes be a little hokey but endearing. They flub some minor rules stuff in earlier videos but pretty quickly got good about getting mechanics right while still sticking to an ethos about generally playing less than top tier lists/showcasing under utilized units.

Legion Visual Guide are excellent for going through the rules on cards. It seems like overkill, but they do a great job of explaining how to use things. Team Relentless' guides are pretty good at showing you tricks or gimmicks that you probably at least ought to be aware of, if not considering (such as the Inferno Squad/ISF Infiltrate trick.) Crabbok covers a bunch of games, but he's pretty nice and overall a decent listen. War Corgi does some pretty good battle reports. I would love for him to add in some "interview" bits (like Command Zone does for their EDH Magic games,) but I can understand not wanting to add a bunch of editing work into a process.

So...one of my projects recently was to get all of my Legion stuff consolidated to as few boxes as I could manage. I had 2 bigger toolboxes with vehicles and objectives, a token holder I didn’t really know what to do with, and minis spread between all of those and 2 different storage cases too. I managed to consolidate everything I play with down to a single toolbox, and one minis case. All my tokens, objectives, barricades, dice, and vehicles live here now. Vehicles: 2x snowspeeders 1x AT-ST 1x AAT 1x Sabre 2x rebel AT-RTs 1x Republic AT-RT Imperial GAV 2x imperial speeder bikes 2x BARCs (w/ sidecar) Snowspeeders are the only loose vehicles, everything else is magnetized with 3/8” rare-earth magnets. The AT-ST, Sabre, and AAT all have 2 apiece, and the GAV sits on the side wall with 3. All the token bins on the top level are removable, and there are enough bins to keep every type of token separate. With how many wide tool boxes I was able to get rid of, I’m down to storing everything for Legion, X-Wing, and Armada in 3 toolboxes + a minis case. I did something similar with all my X-Wing stuff, in an smaller box. Between the boxes and a backpack holding all the cards for all 3 games, it’s a fairly good solution for someone that moves around as much as I do (seasonal NPS employee ) Now if the loving disease can go away so I can start playing any of these games again, that’d be great

Very nice. What model toolbox is that?
|
# ? Dec 26, 2020 18:23 |

Husky brand, cantilever toolbox. There are at least 2 versions, I’ve got the 22”x12.5”x9.8” for Legion. I didn’t glue the AT-ST leg connections in place, so it can squat down enough to fit in the box. The next size down is the one I got for my Armada stuff, but I haven’t figured out what I’m doing with those ship bases just yet They stack on each other, which simplifies things a little bit. My X-Wing box is a different brand, but I’m dealing with replacing that just yet.

Because I’m an idiot I need some advice on Cad Bane. In particular his tokens. I get the divulge mechanic for the most part. Reveal the card you will be playing round one in order to place the three tokens. Easy. Does Bane’s token still go into the random draw stack or do I act as though I gave him an order and can activate him when I want? In subsequent turns if Bane is not revealed how does his order token work? Can I reveal the tokens whenever I want or do they auto uncover once an enemy unit is within 1 range? Does the bomb exploding do friendly fire to my own units in range?

Nash posted:Because I’m an idiot I need some advice on Cad Bane. In particular his tokens. It's ok, it's quite confusing. So Cad Bane is held in reserve and is not issued an order, as his miniature isn't on the field. In order to deploy him, a miniature (you or your opponents) moves within range 1 of the upside down and has line of sight to the "Here I Am" token then the token is flipped over. Then you can swap Cad Bane in where the token is and also issue him an order. Until this happens he's held in perpetuity. Before he's revealed, if you draw the token and there aren't any other operatives on the field, you can set it aside and draw another. As for the bomb, yes it does friendly fire. It's a bit esoteric but the Yellow range on the weapon profile designates an Area weapon, which means it hits everyone within that range (in this case, range 1) with no discrimination.

Awesome. Thank you for the reply. Makes sense about the order and him not being on the board. So you can’t decide to spring him on his hidden token early? Only when an opponent gets within range one?

Cad can hop to his "Here I Am" token per your decision as opposed to a nearby enemy triggering it too. The RRG words it as "At the start of any round, starting with the blue player, a player may reveal a friendly Here I Am token and resolve it." One of his articles clarifies that timing a little further with "at the start of any command phase without the enemy having to trigger it."

I had to read the articles to make sure I was right so I'm responding late, but you can reveal the 'Here I Am' token at the start of any command phase, but Smoke and Mirrors and Kablammo can't be activated whenever you want. It sounds like if you don't show it at the start of the game, you can only have one token and Cad can swap places with it when it's revealed, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Here's the article covering the Divulge stuff. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2020/10/28/cad-bane-201/

Picked up some stormtroopers to paint over the next week or so. First squad leader: Painting white is always a challenge, doubly so when I want to wash over it it’ll get better as I do more, but I feel satisfied with it to start with. It’ll be fine from across the table, at any rate.

Thanks y’all Zandri Dust for the B1 bodies, black for weapons/antennae, Mechanicus Grey for the quarter-circle-thing that sits under their chest, and Macragge Blue to fix whatever paint I got on the base. It’s a near perfect match to their base color (Dooku’s base doesn’t have that treatment, but everyone else’s does: it looks slightly rougher, but same color). The squad leaders got some Auric Gold on their heads (the semi-circle patch on their foreheads), and each squad has a unique color patch on their backpack. Oh, and light nuln oil across the entire model (as always). Icon Of Sin fucked around with this message at 00:12 on Jan 13, 2021 |
