Meanwhile, Monster Pulse has started its final chapter on a very encouraging note: Bina is going to kill Lulenski by punching her directly in her brain.

I kind of want Lulenski to not die so she can be arrested and go to court and be put in jail by a bunch of people who absolutely do not give a poo poo about any of her stupid rationalizations. Meanwhile, in Steeple, Billie is in a pickle!

I just discovered an absolutely adorable short comic called "The Monster Under My Bed". Only four chapters but the art is good and I enjoyed it a lot. https://m.webtoons.com/en/heartwarm...V-RN64yHSb3jHlM It also has a short film that was made of it apparently? But I think the comic is better. Speaking of adaptations, the Sweet Home series has released on Netflix!

I'm kind of wondering if the current events in Girl Genius are what lead to the Foglios eventually becoming Agatha's archnemeses, as we have seen in the radio events. I'm not wondering if Professora Foglio will eventually find out that substitute Heterodynes don't survive the genuine ritual, because that's pretty obvious.

The Patreon also indicates that a Lottie-Steeple crossover is in the works. I wish more people were reading Steeple; in fact I wish enough people were to make Mr. Allison wealthy beyond the dreams of avarice. Meanwhile, time for me to run and read all the issues of Wicked Things I haven't actually gotten to yet.

Pavlov posted:I just binged Never Satisfied, and I still don't understand why Lucy wanted to be a representative, or even what a representative really is, or why it has to be teenagers. Did I miss something, or did the comic just never explain its main character's motivations after 10 chapters? Aside from what else has been said, the manga Lucy reads in the bakery is about representatives, and Lucy definitely wants to be (respected as) a cool anime action hero. Also, apart from any potential magical reasons that the plot might reveal, representatives are recruited young to more easily manipulate them—the comic goes on... at length about this? I also want to say that I think their gender identity is pretty important to understanding Lucy's motivation. The comic isn't by any means entirely a gender parable, but centering nonbinary Lucy definitely highlights that the social tension is all about passing—see also Tobi and Tater, and the double life Su-Yeong has to lead (and now Rin is choosing not to). Lucy's emotional framework for conceptualizing their effort to achieve social recognition as something they weren't born into the traditional way is 100% queer struggle poo poo. Hello, webcomics thread. My comic, Blasphemous Saga Fantasy, turned 10 this past Sunday, January 3rd. I remember that January 3rd, 2011 was a Monday, and on my drive into work that morning there was a pickup truck in front of me with "BSF" in its license plate number. It felt very auspicious. But that's really neither here nor there. A new chapter started this week, and the interminable flashback it's been stuck in is finally, finally over. I've got a 9 page buffer right now, which is more than I've had in years, and I'm going to try to maintain it for as long as I can, and maybe even expand it. On top of all that, the chapter that started this week puts the focus back on the only character anyone gives a poo poo about, the Slime King. So it might be a good time to catch up if you're already a reader, or start reading it (if you want to)! I bet even the super long flashback chapter is a pretty decent read all at once! If you decide you want to read it, thank you! I hope you enjoy it, and appreciate you giving it a look. If you already read and enjoy it, thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it, and appreciate that you gave it a look and then decided to keep doing that repeatedly. It remains to be seen if this comic will consume another decade of my life in reaching its conclusion, but I guess I don't mind if it does. Being able to tell this story has been, all in all, a rewarding experience.

Anyone read Endtown? Been reading it for years and surprised it isn't as well known; decent art, though the pace can be glacial and it's kind of obvious that Aaron kind of rides at the seat of the pants with the story. https://www.gocomics.com/endtown

the first endtown story was neat in a gonzo Ralph Bakshi kinda way but that was like a decade+ ago, and after that wrapped up and the comic just... kept going well if you want plotless furry misery porn set in an endless white void you've got plenty of alternatives to choose from bro

This may be a waaaaaaay dated question, but how does one go about reading All Night Laundry from the beginning? Can you get everything by just clicking next? Or do you need to go through these retcons as they happen? I was hoping to find an FAQ but had no success.

I remember Demon's Mirror being a good example of the webcomic phenomenon where it seems like characters forget that an event or change that was written and posted years ago, still actually just happened in-universe. I remember really enjoying it, though. EDIT: Reread Demon's Mirror, that's not actually a good description of its minor pacing issues after all, I definitely misremembered or conflated it with something else. The comic's definitely written in a way where you can feel that these pages were spread out over the course of years, the framing of characters and their relationships changing faster than feels natural to a straight-through read, but it's harder to pithily diagnose than I described above (or in my tangentially-related shitpost below). A good comic in any case. Ditocoaf fucked around with this message at 09:48 on Jan 20, 2021 |

The purest, most distilled webcomics plot structure is when the main characters are on a desperate, years-long quest for X, then one-third of the way through they're sidetracked for two hours by Y, which doubles the page count and quadruples the cast of the story so far and takes six years to write, by the end of which the author outgrows the project and moves on to something else.
