Off the subject, it seems Knuckles will be appearing in the upcoming sequel to the live action Sonic movie:

I've been enjoying Sonic The Comic The Podcast a lot recently its like my warm 1990s nostalgia blanket.

Is there anything out there like that for the Archie comics? I know about the thanks ken penders blog but I'd like a wider perspective on the whole thing. Like maybe not STCTP level hour long podcast on each issue obsessive but you know what I mean.

If anyone in this thread somehow hasn't listened to STCTP yet you absolutely should. Dave and Chris' enthusiasm for it all shines through in every drat episode. Plus Chris does a great Robotnik.

PLUS my wife and I have guested on it separately :3:

I have some caching up to do with STCTP, but downloading an archive of old comics and reading along has been a blast. I've been trying to pinpoint when I started reading - I had an annual when I was young with a few early stories, but some of the side stories I just don't remember at all.

Also I stopped at a really pivotal moment later on, probably not long before the Sonic Adventure story started, so I'm looking forward to seeing how that one story ended, one day many years from now. Obviously I could just go and read it, but why ruin the surprise?

I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG, BROTHER!

I thought this was cool as hell as a kid. Seeing that now that is pretty ridiculous.

Also even though it was from the Penders era, I still think Mammoth Mogul was cool, it was kind of a shame they lost him and Scourge in the Great Purge

I think I had this paperback collection when I was very little:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sonic-Hedgehog-Spin-Attack-No/dp/1853042595

If its the one I'm thinking of it collects the Ferran Rodriguez illustrated Death Egg Attacks story and first the Kitchen/Elson multiparter (where we see sonic/ronotnik's backstory in the special zone through the time skip and ending with defeating Megatox in the Chemical plant zone.

The weird thing is I don't rememer the collection actually mentioning it was taken from an ongoing book (at least not anywhere my kid self noticed). I started reading the comic itself with issue 101 years later.

That is exactly the one I had, and one with Sonic swimming from a piranha badnik (at least I think that one was separate).

Oh poo poo I remember that pirana picture now you mention it!

Aha found them!:
https://stc.fandom.com/wiki/Beats_the_Badniks
https://stc.fandom.com/wiki/Spin_Attack_(book)

Apparently the cover was repurposed from an actual issue of STC, so maybe I just read that issue eventually, but I have such a strong memory of it. I don't remember having both collections, although comparing the contents of the two I can see why the second collection would have stuck in the mind more than the first.

STC could’ve had a pretty faithful adaptation of SA if they had more time, and more help from SEGA than a single JPEG of Chaos 0. Especially since they’d already established that Earth exists and it’s possible for planets to merge.

Still really like what we ended up with though. Thanks whoever posted the podcast here back when it started.

he is immortal because when the first chaos emeralds impacted the earth in ancient times he was right there and one got lodged in his chest. he then spends every panel gloating about his plans while not actually doing anything until a very confusing story where he fights super sonic, hyper knuckles, and turbo tails and ends up turning into the master emerald

Then he got freed during the Sonic Adventure adaption and was forgotten about for a long time before he returned later on (not sure what happened beyond that but I remember him fighting against a super buff Tails).

The super buff tails was a fusion of an entire multiverse worth of Tailses, and he defeated mogul by sucking all the chaos energy out of mogul into his rear end.
