I feel like Fanfic communities are both easy targets and often so specific that they are largely incomprehensible to outsiders. Are they upset a (supposed) 13 year old is writing really dirty/violent fan fiction because a 13 year old is writing it or because of it's content?

I'm so glad none of my high-school friends were in the online fan fiction community. I had one female friend that wrote hundreds of pages of Hanson fan fiction that I think at one point or another featured everyone she knew in real life, but she wrote it in a notebook thank christ so only a handful of her closest friends (not me) ever read it.

Like, the vast majority of any creative writing written by a 13 year old is gonna be complete poo poo, just because of the nature of it. If it's all based off characters from (show I've never heard of that has a shockingly large viewer base) and that allows them to form a community it's not a bad thing. The bad thing is adults declaring a children's thing their thing. Acknowledge and accept that this started as a thing for children, I don't even have a problem with making porn based off of it, just try and keep that away from children beyond codewords people stopped using before those children could read.
