No need to worry about the latest movie or that new amusement park, a robot will experience those things for you while you're in the mines gathering materials to build more robots.

Kanine posted:every time i see one of these boston dynamics videos im filled with an overwhelming sense of dread Not trying to pick on you or anything so please don't take it that way, but I'm starting to think certain people have some sort of weird instinctive psychological reaction to these for some reason. I don't think loud, absurdly expensive, and relatively clunky robot assassins would be particularly plausibly deniable or even viable versus just having some guy go do it. It's technologically impressive but ultimately doesn't seem very useful to me. I guess they would be good for carrying heavy loads in rough terrain if you can't bring a donkey or camel for some reason? They'd probably be pretty handy if you were walking around in the mountains on Mars, but anywhere on earth you'd be better served by a wheeled vehicle, a pack animal, or a quadcopter.

That's because it wouldn't be for civilian use. Murderbots to help Are Boys™ down range. They could be used to be the first man through a door when clearing houses, or maybe eventually replace soldiers entirely. Maybe some advanced machine learning bullshit that claims it can analyze a person to determine if they are a combatant or a civilian faster than a human soldier can. Maybe they would advertise that it doesn't have to use lethal force because of its armor plating so it can humanely subdue people. Then, once they finally get through testing and work out all the friendly fire bugs, and they harden it against Russian and Chinese cyber attacks, it's ready for prime time for protecting billionaires from poor people.
