Oh for sure it's nowhere near "killer robot". But it sure is lightyears ahead of what was around 20 years ago. I just don't think there's any way the rich don't want the robots from Elysium, and that we'll be there in 50 years probably.

inferis posted:it looks like that video was filmed way slower then sped up maybe? Nah cuz the blinky warning lights on the shoulders would be blinking a lot slower. I'm probably only acutely aware of the weirdness because a friend of mine has been obsessively studying robot stability for the last year for reasons, and has been pointing out these things a lot (including in this video)

Ok, but does it come with the dog?

For some reason my brain didn't parse the front as being the rest of the dog so I thought the dog was behind him somehow and there was just an rear end sticking out

Why bother creating unstoppable walking humanoid deathbots when you can just build like, a cloud of small flying gun drones? Sure the resistance can shoot them down, but if they shoot, the drones will be able to triangulate the location of the shot using onboard microphones and zip over to put a mag into them. It would require connection to a network with strong computing power, but that's what Starlink is for. Like christ the rich are poo poo at evil planning, you'd consider they'd be better since it's all they do

I've always seen our brutal police state future as less ed-209 and much closer to judge dredd. Much cheaper to hose the blood off a suit of full body armour than it is to build a new robot

The only reason they're still on top is the system, whose sole purpose is to grow these peoples number, is basically automated at this point.
