The only genre that mouse+kb doesn't work well with is driving/racing. Everything else is down to preference. Even driving wise, GTA5 had a really good mouse steering if you don't mind not having analog control on the gas. Third person works well with kb to move/act and mouse to control camera, first person I cannot fathom playing with a controller watching as the camera moves into position while you're getting shot at... with a mouse you just look in that direction and you're there in milliseconds. Just feels more natural how you look around as you move too. You can tell when you're watching a video and they're playing a controller, they're just looking in the same direction as they move around and it seems like an handicap more than anything.

Barudak posted:Way way more escort missions (with hard game over), the interconnectedness of the main dungeon got lost and in its place more dungeons but so far both main story dungeons have had awful quirks and felt unevenly paced, everything costs way way too much money, subweapons are fully optional and theres way more places to look for items so its harder to make what is there, this water dungeon is loving trash, and the reaverbots you fight heavily lean towards the godawfull boring shield enemies so dungeon crawling feels a lot slower. I loving loved the first one, incredibly charming. All I remember from the second is hungry like the wolf by duran duran is an answer on a test.

lurker2006 posted:I have to disagree on zangief, rolling an spd on a dpad is actually somewhat easier than on a stick, at least with the input leniency that's been around since 4. The only characters that are really prohibitive on pad are piano input characters. I mained Zangief for a long rear end time, and I could never really decide if I preferred analog sticks on the PS4 controller, the D-pad or my fightstick. There's something visceral and lovely about 'churning the butter' on a fightstick, and yeah piano moves (cancelling into mash specials) are basically only possible on a fightstick. But I guess maybe because I learned on the analog stick, it always felt the most natural to me, and for sure was the one I found it easiest to do quickly to like cancel stuff into supers. It always felt like heresy, but, you know. You gotta do what you gotta do to get that fight money. /edit: Oh, I wanted to ask, I'm at the Cook in Prey and was just wondering how much of the game I have left? It feels like probably a whole lot, since I only just got the psychic poo poo, but, also, feels like the story doesn't have much left in it? I guess you can always come up with reasons why I need to 'actually go OVER THERE now', but, yeah, I cant tell. !Klams fucked around with this message at 03:43 on Jan 3, 2021 |

Barudak posted:Im gonna see this to the end, so good to know it improves. i also want to add that the tradeoff for the dungeon not being interconnected (which owned) is that the optional dungeons are semi-randomized in enemies and stuff in ways that are slightly influenceable by the similarly optional licensing system, which gives it a moderate boost to replayability compared to the first, IMO. kinda bloodborne-chalice-y. anyway, unpopular opinion: the sims franchise has vastly oversimplified how easy it is to get into the Mad Scientist career path, and i think that is directly related to a general disinterest in the sciences among youth today

It was extremely lame and tried to make people think it was a horror game so that people would check it out. The writing felt like a fan fiction of a tv show that didn't exist.

I mean there are the video game awards and its pretty easy to guess what will play well with that. But yeah Gone Home wasn't trying for that at all and clicked quite well with a specific niche then got hyped to heaven outside of it when it really isn't some mass appeal title. Firewatch is a game Ive seen the ending to twice and I always get mad how it just ends and goes "oh yeah, no story here"
