whoa. This is sorta hacky/cheating-ish for Pavlov as there is no in-game way of artificially changing your height, you're expected to really crouch to pick up weapons n such. That being said I'm not against trying this.

I picked up Eleven Table Tennis on a whim because it's $10 right now and it feels very accurate to the real thing, and I do like that you can drag yourself around manually so you can play sitting down if you want. Definitely gonna lean on a fake table at least once or twice though, I already feel it coming.

I played a bunch more of this tonight and it took a while to get a feel for it but it's a lot of fun. I have trouble lightly hitting with a forehand because it sometimes registers as a bunch of tiny hits like it's rolling off the paddle or something. I might just need to practice more with it but even within the hour that I played I could feel myself improving.

DR2 is hella fun and the only times I ever felt sick were during crashes where the car rolls over like 7 times and still lands it so uh take that anecdote. Also make sure you have rumble turned on (steam controller has it off by default), it helps a lot with managing traction.

Yeah I've never felt bad from Dirt Rally either, and I'm a weenie compared to most of this thread about VR comfort and tend to play with teleport over smooth locomotion.

The games that make me feel bad are... well, mostly ones with free locomotion! Sitting in a car feels pretty natural.

If your comparison is to standing roomscale games then yeah, everything else in VR is gonna make you feel sick. But if you're comfortable with games that have smooth locomotion and feel bad in dirt rally, I would check real hard to make sure its rendering at a consistent framerate and at a high rate and all that. It can be easy to lose track of how much the game is dropping frames but quickly start to feel it.

2 has more graphical bells and whistles (for flatscreen) which you may want to turn down for VR, but 1 is pretty old so if you're feeling bad in 1 its less likely to be a performance issue.

Still worth double checking that you're getting a solid 90fps or whatever though.

Try the "Trouble in Terrorist Town" modded mode as well. It's a basic game of murder, trying to work out who the Terrorist(s) are in the group before they can kill everyone else.

Everyone has guns, so paranoid accusations tend to go as you'd expect. There are balance measures to stop players just going "is it you? *BANG* Is it you? *BANG* Is it you? *BANG*" until they find the actual terrorists too.

Started building my pinsim controller the other day, pretty happy with how it's turned out so far.

Waiting on some hardware to arrive to finish it off, everywhere is closed for the next 2 weeks to get pinball parts locally. Still need to add 2 extra buttons to the side, didn't realise I'd need the magna save buttons for the launcher software when I started it.
I'll be able to get the wiring done, vinyl on and legs mounted hopefully this weekend and start setting up the pinball PC to run this thing.

Now to be fair you can still just jetpack on up there, but the scale is way gnarlier than it used to be. That was the big thing that stuck out to me

You can also play russian roulette in Pavlov. Particularly in the TTT game mode! Confuse your friends! Yank their mags!

Yeah you have to do a lot of world hopping to find chill people if you don't know anyone already. Also a generic av off the front page and a visitor tag is usually an underage giveaway if the gamer words involving your mother didn't tip you off first.

Can someone link to the good Quest 1 controller cover things? I haven't felt the need for them until now but I've been playing Beat Saber every evening recently and I could do with something that will let me grip the controllers like (I who has never held a sword would imagine someone would hold) swords without the battery cover slipping off.

Also I was checking out VR cover foam replacements - is there a consensus on which is the best one? It looks like they have options between leather, silicon and machine-washable cotton now.

Listen, I've been around a bit, you know, and I thought I'd seen some creepy things go on in the movie business, but I really have to say this is the most disgusting thing that's ever happened to me.
when I first played Pavlov, I felt insanely ill after 2-3 minutes. Now I can play basically anything for as long as I want, until I get eye and neck fatigue.

I do think moving from the rift S to the reverb helped somewhat with nausea issues, but I also think I'm rewiring my brain to get less hosed up by the experience. Or, maybe "more" hosed up, since it's basically being trained to misprocess spatial information based on visual input from a fixed focal plane ~3" away.

Note about Pavlov. When we say its like counterstrike, we mean counterstrike from the late 90s, early 2000s. Not CSGO. It's not very competitive, lots of funny maps or gimmick games, lots of screwing around.

I've played some cool tower-defense like custom games, TTT of course, jailbreak, stuff like that. It's a real good "Mess around for 30 minutes" kind of game. For new players I think its pretty good since its familiar gameplay but playing Dust in VR is really pretty special. It does induce a little motion sickness but it's probably a good middle ground for getting used to it (but stop as soon as you start feeling sick!).

Its super fun and cool. A 3D table can feel very realistic in front of you.

The problem is, what software are you talking about?

AFAIK there's 2 solutions for VR pinball. One is very slick but also expensive and there's only like 9 tables total. The other is some open source table emulator software that I could never get to output proper VR.

I’m going to guess it depends on your computer but with a 1080ti and a r5-2600x the only time I really notice pop-in is when I’m flying along the ground in the ship. I think that’s an engine limitation more than your PC at that point.
