Not really sure where the idea that DSA-LA is pro Newsom comes from, everyone i know shits on the guy and openly states that the Democrats are part of the problem in California. That being said we don't just do mutual aid work, we do that primarily to build relationships with unhoused people so they join us in the fight against city hall. So they will text us when they get sweep notices, so we can film for lawsuits, like Garcia vs City of La which we are winning. Also remember these are people, not trash. I don't think you were insinuating that and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but helping people get access to food, shelter, electricity, and harm reduction materials isnt "filling pot holes" it is actually helping real people who have real value. As you pointed out if we aren't already there we are on a crash course to being a complete failed state, while I haven't completely given up on local politics, I don't really expect there to be much success in changing things. Just trying to soften the blow for as many people I can as the system falls apart. I don't think we are enabling the government to fall apart, we have no control over that, i just think we are doing the best we can in lovely situations and times.

Jinnigan posted:what decentralized movement are we talking about here. are we talking about the massive BLM protests that happened this year? those were awesome, they involved some ~30,000,000 people across the country, including people sticking out their necks in very tiny very violently racist small towns. or are we talking about jimmy dore's plan to force the vote. offline participants: perhaps as many as 30? that's three tens, and that's terrible I think the thing we need to be asking here is whether something being an offline protest really means jack poo poo, given the massive protests you mentioned and how little they accomplished. I'm obviously not saying that online stuff matters more, but 0 = 0 here. People are associating value with effort/time put in, rather than results. I think that what happens is you have left-branded organizations (like the ones you mentioned in a later post) that might have good intentions, but they inevitably end up being managed/lead by people with "activism careers" who have all the wrong incentives (and are provided additional bad incentives to work with the Democratic Party or organizations/individuals associated with it). And it's not surprising that such organizations would end up this way, since the sort of people with the capacity to become heavily involved in them will be disproportionately fortunate/privileged in some manner. At the very least, I definitely believe it's a net harm when people use claims that you should be involved with such organizations as a way to silence people and effectively tell them they don't have the right to have/express opinions unless they've Done The Work (which is even more irksome when "The Work" usually accomplishes all of jack poo poo). I don't know if it's intentional at any level, but in practice this behavior just creates an atmosphere of elitism. It's like the people who say you shouldn't vote unless you pay attention to politics constantly. It's also extremely transparently obvious that this particular bout of scolding occurred in response to people attacking AOC. In an effort to maintain a feeling of significance, such movements attach themselves to people who aren't actually on their side. They want to be able to say "our movement Matters because it includes prominent people and organizations," so they react strongly if those people/organizations are called into question.

I know it's considered "bad form" to say this but my response to forcing the vote was a very lukewarm "yeah sure why not, it's something to do and we don't have a lot else going on" until the discourse devolved into "david sirota's extremely mild criticisms of this specific course of action prove that he is a CIA plant" and that happened really loving fast Is that possibly because a carnival barker rage-pill addict like Jimmy Dore became the loudest voice over more sane, less brittle people like Briahna Gray or Justin Jackson? Probably! Did saying this also get me called a CIA plant? Yes!

The fact of the matter is that after yesterday, what Bernie, AOC, and the Squad have done is the legislative equivalent of Star Citizen, right down to their dedicated Delusion & Defense brigade that refuses to face reality. First it was back Bernie, and “progressives,” and if we work our rear end off, we might finally get healthcare, a living wage, an end to endless wars, etc. Just buy a starter package, Squadron 42 is due out in 2014/2016/2020/20??, and don’t give up the faith. Join the DSA, donate to Bernie and the Squad, caucus for progressives, and don’t give up the faith. Now the years have gone on, and those investments haven’t paid off, and now people are seeing the writing on the wall and drifting away, leaving the truly devoted to live with their investment, doubling down on a lost cause. Buy an Idris. Vote for a warmongering austerity rapist who is actively opposed to every single one of your goals. Take out a loan and spend $50,000+ on ships for a game that has been pre-alpha for nearly a decade now. Knock on doors for Ossoff, who wants to deny you healthcare. These temporarily embarrassed liberal millennials that can’t figure out why they didn’t wind up as well off their parents, and drifted into “progressivism” (which is just liberalism, but confused) or worse, “democratic socialism,” which is just liberalism, but rebranded with a rose and a bunch of weird rituals. Don’t spread FUD. Always be “organizing.” At the end of the day, it’s not even “Progressive Citizen” for these worthless loving dorks, it’s just “Capitalist Citizen,” as they keep getting themselves sheepdogged into dumping their money and time and votes into material support for hard right austerity and corporate looting. Buy an AOC branded shirt that says “change takes courage,” then turn around and log onto Twitter to defend your candidate’s complete loving lack of courage in the face of the greatest economic crisis in the past 90 years. Livestream a buggy “pre-alpha” to zero viewers and try to push affiliate codes. Refuse to finally face reality and realize you’ve wasted thousands of hours and dollars and everything around you has gotten progressively worse and you invested in absolutely loving nothing, meanwhile, in about 15 years AOC and the Squad are going to gently caress off to the billionaire survival bunkers in exchange for doing their part to keep you docile and dedicated to a cause that was never real to begin with. Then the Sickening and Heartbreaking Truths of the Fourth Stimpire shall truly begin.
