we are so far away from actually having a comprehensive understanding of the nervous system processes involved in "hear song or wear lucky wrap or whatever the gently caress -> get pumped -> lift more weights or run farther and faster" that trying to understand that whole thing comprehensively from a scientific perspective is pretty much a waste of time imo. like when ancient greeks argued about whether air, fire, or water was the primordial element
