Sounds like he stopped not because he thinks he did anything wrong, but because it stopped being socially acceptable in the circles he moved in. If he apologized and demonstrated growth, I'd be more sympathetic, but his behavior with the bean dad thing... does not demonstrate that.

when I was a small autistic childe my mother brought me to a doctor who told me to stop drinking milk because of the casein apparently it aggravates the symptoms of autism or something but now that I think of it that might have been crazy hippy bullshit all along because my mom is kinda into the whole positive-vibes-energy-healing thing, and I don't remember whether that guy was a real doctor or a "naturopath" or something
