That's the Washington Times, a far-right tabloid run by a literal cult. 'Mainstream' is doing some very heavy lifting here.

For sure - but it's being used by the far right to justify their claims that it was anti-fa not their very own beloved fascists causing the riots yesterday. One of the Washington Times or washington Post is run by the moonies but I can't remember which. Washington Times: The Washington Times was founded on May 17, 1982, by Unification movement leader Sun Myung Moon and owned until 2010 by News World Communications, an international media conglomerate founded by Moon. It is currently owned by Operations Holdings, which is a part of the Unification movement.[4][5] Twitter trump: his account seems to be active again. He must have deleted those tweets. Yeah, the New York Times and the Washington Post are America's most famous and reputable broadsheets, while the New York Post and Washington Times are two of its least reputable tabloids.

kingturnip posted:Isn't most facial recognition software OwlFancier posted:It also can't recognize juggalos. Also lots of people wearing masks nowadays A very real problem is that while recognising a face from a database of a couple hundred people of interest is not that hard, recognising one from a database of thousands or millions is very slow and much more likely to throw up many false positives. When Facebook gives you a photo tag suggestion they aren't checking every person who uses Facebook, just your friends and maybe their friends. So if the polis have you down as on a list of known local troublemakers they can probably pick you out from crowd surveillance footage, but I doubt it would be feasible to reliably identify every person in that crowd even if they had an up-to-date database of every face in the UK. big scary monsters fucked around with this message at 02:17 on Jan 8, 2021 |

I'd suggest wear your mandatory mask and maybe a trucker hat. Sunglasses if you're paranoid or hungover. Of course there are imaging systems that can just see through most fabrics but they're expensive, potentially dangerous, the resolution is usually bad, and I doubt anyone is deploying those in the open outside of a warzone or a research setting. The risk assessment forms are a huge pain.OwlFancier posted:And put a rock in your shoe.

It's not like the police are going door-to-door though, is it? Someone on that family's block would have seen a commotion at the house, assumed they were having a party and - probably on speed-dial - called their local station, who sent officers round. And obviously, it's upsetting for the family, but I'm sure most people feel some irritation when they see/hear about a couple of pricks in a house who decide to have all their mates round, 'cos this whole coronavirus thing is a loving con, innit? Either you accept that people are going to be cunts and break the rules, and leave it at that, or you accept that the police are going to go and investigate reports of people breaking the rules and there'll be some people who get harrassed by thick coppers.
