Brisbane is too humid for facemasks. I got all sweat in the lining of mine and I started to suffocate.

I walked 11km in the course of a 9 hour retail shift in a disposable surgical mask yesterday, it's poo poo. People can barely understand what anyone is saying, as you said you end up choking for air, and all last night after I got home I had a strange phantom mask sensation of something touching me around my mouth.

I got that when we first started wearing masks in Victoria. Hours after I got home I could still feel the drat thing on my face.

But I did find that a hot shower and scrubbing the hell out of my face helped a lot.

There's also a difference in the paper masks. It might just be the ones sold here, but I found that the blue masks were a lot stiffer and more uncomfortable, while the white masks were a lot easier to breathe through.

I went to Woolies after work today but some mega-fatties already stripped all the shelves bare so I'll have to try again tomorrow. I hope I don't get a $200 fine for not wearing a mask while trying to buy a mask.

I have to wonder why are people like this. If ever there was a time to kick back at home, play video games til your eyes turn square, and eat frozen pizza for 3 days, this would be it.

I'll wear one if I have to go into shops or whatever but I'm not going to wear one anymore if I'm just walking down the street or exercising.

To be clear, although I reserve the right to have a nice cleansing sook about it, I endorse the mask wearing requirement 100%.

Also - something many people may not realise is that in Brisbane currently it is mandatory to wear the mask at all times when outside your home, other than when in the process of eating/drinking - that includes when you're driving alone in your car. My dad rang up and asked about it specifically.

I also always found it puzzling when people did this after March/April, now that we know that no matter what you're always going to be allowed to go to the shops, but it only takes a little bit of "panic" buying to upset the supply chain and I don't think it's "panicky" at all to say, hmm, maybe I want to go to the shops as infrequently as possible if there's a virulent new strain of COVID circulating.

Yes, this was also the case in the four-month Victorian lockdown, unless you were jogging or cycling. Though at least for us it was winter. Even as it was warming up in September/October I was finding mask wearing starting to become uncomfortable.

Glorious Leader of Westralia McGowan has warned us all to get masks in case the new strain breaks through our quarantine. Since I've literally not had to buy a mask because the last time COVID was a thing people were saying masks were pointless, where the heck does one buy a mask and what is the best type of mask to buy.

Also, which sort of mask is best for children.

A 3 layer cloth mask is good if you want something reusable, although single use disposable surgical masks are also a very good choice.

Woolworths, Coles, Bunnings and all pharmacies will sell them.

I can personally recommend the Unqilo Airism masks. 3 pack for $20, and they're good.

Children aren't recommended to wear masks on the whole.

Yeah I've been using these as my default cloth masks, fairly comfy fit.

I've got a higher quality/strong seal valved N95 mask too left over from when the issue was smoke not virus but only have one unused filter insert for it left so leaving that sitting around in reserve.

100% behind his message but man using a dark green arrow to point purple line when there is a dark green line right above it is horribly confusing. ...so obviously we should ignore everything that he says.

Bad graphing aside, does bring up very good point about just how hosed a new more infectious strain can make things. Lots of hope is being put into the vaccines, but there is still so much time until any of the roll outs anywhere are going to have that much affect.
