Oops, I ate the cat food

Anyway, i see discussion about post-game stuff and that some endings are sorta dead ends. My question is, should I be sure I have an extra save file of this playthrough before I finish it so i can complete gigs and stuff? Or does it let you continue after the credits? From the sound of things, I'd expect the former.

After finishing an ending you are kicked back to just before the final mission commences so don't worry about it

I know there's some DLC speculation based on endings but seeing as the game started from three wildly different origin points that diverge, I think they can just do something similar and make all post-ending stories converge into one point, maybe with another montage.

i hope this game gets continued support, or even becomes a "living platform". i have so much fun just loving around in the city. and the combat can be legitimately great. with better systems governing it all (e.g., crafting not being nonsense; there being more interesting gear mods; transmogs!) i could spend untold amounts of time in night city.

Seems like really unlucky timing. I know there's people that make the argument that it was just a circus of gently caress ups and was doomed to fail, but they 100% would have been in and out with no one the wiser if that one thing didn't happen. And there was no way for them to know it would or could have. Shoulda had more back up plans in place, but this is a video game and they needed to get to the hook and establish character mortalities and stakes, so I can forgive it.

This is so stupid. I'm around level 35, playing on normal . For the most part I would say this game is piss easy. But I'm doing this quest to help Johnny/Kerry get the band back together and when you track the band mate down , an entire room full of maelstroms goes aggro and it's like, loving impossible. I'm dead in seconds. you can't leave the room, there is only one useless piece of cover they throw grenades everywhere. I don't think I can physically beat this. Whoever designed this part is a loving moron.

Guess I'm just bumping down the difficulty because gently caress this. It's soo unevenly hard compared to literally everything else in the game.

Yeah this one is a bit dumb, took me several tries. What worked was crouching down behind the crates, throwing half a dozen grenades and shooting anyone who tried to flank me with a shotgun. For some reason they never threw grenades at me though

(secret ending) According to what I've read, you have to select "guy who saved my life" in that dialog, if you didn't then there's nothing you can do. I did the Rogue date quest and everything else, but didn't pick that option, so I didn't get the secret ending. Apparently it doesn't matter if your middle meter is 60% or 70% or even 50%, you have to pick "guy who saved my life" (and then "hosed it up too", apparently) or you don't get it.

I eventually jumped on the crates so the melee guy couldn't hit me and blinded everyone else with flashbangs. The main problem was the melee guy and their nades. It turned out to be very doable but it's really stupidly designed and I died within 5 seconds 10 times before figuring out how to avoid insta death. In general I wish the game was more challenging but not like that.

I can confirm you have to pick both these options. I got 60% but didn't choose the second option (since I was following a guide at the time that had a different dialogue option) and I didn't get the secret ending. AFAIK that was the only thing I didn't do "correctly".

How did you do the flathead mission at the start that you're forced into a fight with all maelstorms? When I freed Brick and killed Royce - he just lets me and Bes walk out freely, when I sided with Royce and fought militech he also didn't fight, but had to sneak out Bes's data by going out of toilet window.

Finally finished the game after my saves got all hosed up and ended up leaving Nighty City with Panam. I promptly went and looked up the other endings and yeah that's definitely the best one.

Also for me up until the point of no return, I experienced no bugs what so ever, no t-posing NPCs, no broken quests, etc. But as soon as I went past that point I saw tons of bugs, broken interactions, I had to re-load saves in order to advance mission critical objectives. The part in the Nomad ending where you can test drive the tank with Mitch, my V sat on the roof and my view was cockeyed causing the tank to list to the left the whole time.

My unwanted review: It's a good game with great characters, stories and a city/world that I can't take my eyes off of. Seriously after 60 hours I still would gawk at a sunset, or drive around aimlessly in the rain. Unfortunately there are enough weird design choices and QOL issues that put a damper on declaring it a masterpiece.

Hoping by the time I pick it up again in 6 months to a year, they'll have fixed most of it.

Also called a sequel/expansion.

For all I care, they can put the sequel in the same city. Some polish to the outsides, and there's plenty of void within the building geometry to add additional interiors. Especially within the megabuildings. And even within your home tower, you could expand by making more floors and also the interior market accessible. Changes from adding some more external space in the vertical similar to the market would probably go unnoticed, if it's not too low to the ground. Some of the skybridges could be turned from props into something accessible. And obviously make the train system work (altho I'm not sure it was ever intended to work, at least in the last two years, judging what I've seen running the rails just yesterday).

Hell, after 80 hours, I keep seeing new things in sideroads I seemingly haven't visited yet.

This way you could get a new expansive story in a "reasonable" timeframe, where the artist and story team can work and iterate on an already (mostly) working platform while the coding team gets rid of jank and adds missing features that'll become also available in the base game, since it shares its code and assets with said expansion/sequel.

One can dream, can't he?

The biggest thing they can add in the DLC would be ways to drink/eat/rent hotels/etc outside of missions. Just little immersion things like that would go a long way.

Then again, seeing as though 90% of the food/drinks are all kept in the same looking brown bag that might be a lot of work.

Carly shook her glass, willing the ice to melt. "You still haven't told me what the mission is."

It would take a DLC-level effort to overhaul the open world systems into being a non-broken, hollowed-out mess, but I think that's rather unlikely to happen as opposed to new content on a different map.

TBH if they announced a big DLC and it was exclusively just open-world immersion poo poo the backlash would be bad.

That stuff is all patch-worthy, but it’s not CONTENT, which is the key difference between good and bad DLC. A bunch of stupid poo poo to spend your eddies on in game would reek of “horse armor”.
