Not only is it unhealthy, you're also not even doing it right if you assume 8% because you should be using real rates not nominal rates.

This is probably one of those questions that sounds idiotic to anyone who knows the answer, but is it possible for a layman to learn how to identify music notes by ear? Like you're listening to a person singing on the radio and you know it's G# A# B C# etc. If so how is it done?

Some people are just naturally good at this, but the other answer is just "practice a lot. Like, a lot." Sit down for an hour every day and listen to notes and guess their pitch and eventually you'll get it.

Awful apps: there are two distinct apps, one for Android and one for iOS. They might have different features.

Regarding perfect pitch - also know that the vast vast majority of professional musicians don't have it. As long as you've got a good handle on relative pitch you're fine for almost any music-related task.

There are cool threads in many subforums, you're gonna have to be a bit more specific. It just enjoy the dildo making thread from this very subforum. It gets an even better twist on page 4.

No idea what the design language is for such menus on iOS, but it's possible that app simply doesn't have search.

Sounds plausible. Here's the Android menu for context:

Search only appeared for me in the (Android) app after I bought the upgrade that includes it, not before, so that might also be a factor

So because I'm stupid, I decided to buy a refurbished office chair online and I absolutely hate it: fabric was not what it was supposed to be, it's an earlier model than what it should be, etc. I can return it but the part that makes me stupid is that I didn't have any foresight into how much it costs to ship back something that large and heavy. UPS and Fedex make it seem like it's literally $400+ to ship (original package says 50lb, 31x30x21 inches) which is almost the price I paid for the chair itself. Anyone have any experience shipping back large items like that / any cheap shipment alternatives?

I'm pretty sure that you're going to say "I'm in America so that doesn't work here because there's no such thing as consumer protections" but in similar situations I've just had the seller pay the cost to return the item. In one case they just refunded my money and told me to keep it since it wasn't worth returning. If you got the thing you ordered and then decided you didn't want it then you'd have to pay, but if they literally sent you something other than what was advertised then that's their mistake and it's their responsibility to fix it.

I recall the facehuggers in the alien series of films implant chestbursters into creatures, and some of the characteristics of those creatures are represented in the fully developed alien. If a little kitty cat got infected from a facehugger would there be little cat sized xenomorphs?

Yes. In Alien 3, depending on the version you watch, it starts off either by infecting either a dog or an ox.

I've been lucky enough to travel lots in my life. On account of that I have lots of mixed up bits of languages that have become kind of an internal patois over the decades.

Where did I get the word (pronounced) coh+mee+say? I feel like it attaches to a word that sounds like koo+roo.

I can't attach it to a memory, continent or language or offer any context..

I feel it means "bring it too me". Probably not right.

And it's definitely not Spanish comida or French Comme ci.

Come Stai is Italian for how are you?

It actually sounds a lot like “comme il sait” in French. The L is barely noticeable when spoken quickly, which it would be with a fluent speaker.

Means “as he knows/says”.

I’m not a native speaker so I can’t say if it’s a common expression but it could definitely be used in everyday speech.

The cries of the dead are terrible indeed; you should try not to hear them.
First impression is also that you're misremembering the Italian 'Come stai' because it's a very common phrase. 'Come sai' is also 'How do you know?'

Are you looking for a name for that specific type of advertising, because I don't it has one. In general that is referred to as targeted marketing or market segmentation. You want to sell face scrub so you name and advertise it in different ways to women, bro men, "sophisticated" people, rich people, low income people, children, healthy/organic focused people, sport/athletic, etc.

I don't know the answer but I am reminded of the time I saw a plastic surgery clinic advertising a new very masculine facial treatment: BROTOX

I know in Windows, the max "FPS" of the actual desktop environment is gonna be linked to whatever your monitor refresh rate is.

1) Is it possible to uncap that limit? (I know there is no reason to do this. But...)

2) If I could uncap it, what "max FPS" COULD modern hardware hit in just windows? Pretend I have like a 10900k and RTX3080.

Context: a bug got fixed in a recent NVIDIA driver that stopped the FPS counter from appearing on windows calendar and like outlook or something, and the idea of 10000FPS in calendar is now my dream

If I have this laptop:

https://www.asus.com/us/Laptops/ASUS-VivoBook-15-F512DA/

And I need to get a second charger, will this work:

https://store.asus.com/us/item/202001AM040000010/adapters-ASUS-45W-%2F-4PHI-Power-Adapter

I can see that the model number matches, but when I look on my computer it says the full model number is: X512DA_F512DA and I didn't know if that was important. I only see the first part of the number on the charger page.

Probably?

The spec sheet for the charger doesn't go much into output details besides just being a 45w adapter unfortunately.

Can you look at the current charger and find a model number on it anywhere? If this is for someone else, there maybe try asking their customer support chat line here.

Alternatively there's the laptop megathread that will probably have a more definite answer. Than this general question thread.

I just moved, and our stuff was in storage for about 7 weeks. Now, after one or two loads of laundry since moving in, our washing machine has some kind of dirt or debris on the bottom of the tub. I've run the self-clean cycle many times (once with bleach) and wiped the tub out between each one, but the crap keeps coming back. I'm in the process of troubleshooting with Samsung, but does anyone have any idea what the hell's going on?

Sorry if this is a repeat, but is there a term for seeing one thing so much that things similar to it look drastically different for a bit?

The context for this question is reading another page with a different-but-otherwise-normal font for a chunk of time, and then coming back to read something here (and posting this). I was briefly viscerally focused on the differences of the text, visually, as if something was wrong. It wasn't - just a different font - but I'm curious if this is like, a thing. Shape adaptation?

What's the name of this kind of sauce?

Two parts mayonnaise
One part dijon mustard
Lemon juice
Dill for fish or paprika for everything else

I've been doing it as a dipping sauce for like twenty years and realized today I don't what it's called. Or maybe it's simple enough it doesn't have a name, who knows.
