I come in here occasionally to check the status of SS2 EE. I’ve been putting off my play through of modded SS2 as long as I can, having never played it.

I played SS1 (enhanced) last year and despite the age and needing to rebind some keys, it sure as gently caress has held up. I’m hoping SS2 is at least that good and the very little of it I played years ago suggests that it is.

I'm actually surprised that they're making a SS2 remaster. The game still runs fine and it's trivial to mod in some higher resolution textures and widescreen support, or at least it was last time I played 5-10 years ago. If you enjoyed the SS1 remaster I'm sure you can just jump strait into SS2, the default jank should be lower iirc.

I'm looking at that SS2 EE video posted above again and...is that VR? Are they making System Shock 2 VR compatible?

Yep, that's an Index controller. Immersive sims would probably be a great match for VR, if you could avoid having an irl heart attack from the horror elements.

I had double-fire-hand spells by that point so they never got close enough to upset me

Only slightly related to classic FPSs but Machinegames is making an Indiana Jones game. Neat. I think? https://www.pcgamer.com/bethesda-reveals-a-new-indiana-jones-game-being-made-by-wolfenstein-studio-machinegames/

I was hoping they were working on another Wolfenstein. They certainly shouldn’t gently caress up the combat against nazis.

Maybe with Indiana Jones they'll do a nazi killing power fantasy that doesn't feel like a thin facade over a straight up nazi power fantasy, that'd be nice
