OK, talk me through this - what would the flat earth batallion's victory have looked like?

They had access to the most powerful person in the house's UNPROTECTED work computer and did...gently caress all with it. The dude that sat in her seat scribbled a note, got his photo op, and moved on.

Do you know how much damage I could do with access to that terminal?

You can't seriously expect me to entertain the notion that it's either the Facebook hoveround sedition or brutal neoliberal austerity, and nothing else.

The mob gets in ten minutes earlier.
The one cop holds his fire when Q lady jumps through the window and grapples him.
The rest of the mob follows her lead.

A few hundred armed MAGAs are in the house chamber.

You think these people, chanting "hang Mike Pence," who have been threatening violence for months, at least a few out of them, aren't going to lynch Ilhan Omar or livestream themselves holding Pelosi hostage or beat Hakeem Jeffries to death, along with the massive loss of life that even a nonlethal attempt to force them out by riot cops/NG troops would entail?

It could've been a lot worse.

This. They had zipties, a large quantity of guns, and a hell of a lot of dangerous rhetoric around how most of the people in that building (including Pence and various republicans depending on the time of day, moon cycle, alignment of the stars, and whether or not cheeto benito tweeted badly about them within the last few days) are all traitors to the country at best, and secret satanic pedophiles that eat babies and force gay abortions at the worst. As much as what happened was a national disgrace, had they gotten into the chamber it could have gone much, much worse.

I do like how that image essentially calls Donald Trump a "fringe political group."

Also as much as I hate the guy I feel pretty comfortable with Mike Pence being protected by lethal force when a mob is breaking down doors to try and murder him.

Okay, so they kill a few federal pigs, then go on their unguided tour. That still doesn't change what happens on 1.20.

These dumb motherfuckers couldn't even find Chuck Schumer's office, an inanimate delegation of space that stays (in a relativistic sense) in the same exact loving place, and even has a golden nameplate on it, with the help of the capitol loving pigs. You expect me to believe that they could find a moving target like Ms. Omar or Ocasio-Cortez?

They did, however, find Clyburn's office. Not the office with his name on it, but his other office that doesn't have his name on it, where he does most of his work. This implies that they had people on the inside helping them out, so it could have been a lot worse.

The thing that I take away from a lot of this is that the "crazies" observe a lot of the things wrong with the current political system, to the same degree that their lefter counterparts are but end up arriving at radically different ideas on how to solve it. My father, father-in-law, mother-in-law and I can all sit around and have a perfectly agreeable discussion about how much we all hate, say, the energy companies, or the insurance companies, or why our district's democrat representative sucks - hell we can even get into nominally not-right-wing ideas like 'wow the sugar industry really hosed up, and continues to gently caress up, what little natural splendor florida has left' and largely agree on the substance of it - they wield too much power politically through campaign finance donations and soft bribery, or they're the ones bending to said donations and promises of prominent lobbying or consulting jobs when they retire from congress; when it comes down to what to do about it though is where things inevitably differ. Instead of "nationalize healthcare to remove the profit motive and administrative bloat and have all americans pay the same amount for the same quality of care" it's "kick the immigrants out, be spiteful to trans people, and force women to be baby factories."

e: and then they'll turn around and tell a story about how they tripped balls at woodstock

It's fascinating. what the gently caress happened to them?

Reminds me of how Ben Garrison's rants that he posts with his cartoons would say things like "The billionaires have too much money, they have too much power over our politicians and hurt the little guy who's barely struggling!" and then the solution was "So we need to end the Fed and deregulate businesses!"
