Didn't anyone else slog through startup and/or agency work in the past? That's just the way they pitch their tyranny and a lot of the times it works. That's how you end up with those places where people are happy to work extra hours, catch up on more work when they get home and on weekends, and think it's awesome because of the "culture". It reminds me of when that type of boss wokely promises unlimited vacation. It'll be in your onboarding paperwork as "The whole work/life thing? hey - we get it. Mental health is real - humans are complex. We're on it. Wanna take a day trip? Cool. [visit ALL the things meme]". But whoopsie, it's always crunch time! You're never using those "unlimited" days and if you do you'll hear about it (directly or indirectly) in any sort of review. Just say no to informal buddy/buddy arrangements with your boss. They'll screw you eventually, and if you want to file any kind of complaint or get unemployment it's just your word against theirs. Love to see a boss soaking up the likes for his "actually lets *not* document this (ps i see you, you are valid)" management style lol
