Oh I see! This must be the Bad Opinion Zone!
WEP was weird as hell. I started off thinking it'd be like Anthem of the heart, then I thought it's like Otherside Picnic, and now I'm wondering if it's like Persona.

Anyway I liked it.

Christ, what an asshole.
I hadn't heard a thing about Wonder Egg Priority and just watched the first episode purely off the reactions here, and...

Wow, I'm all in. The atmosphere is pitch-perfect here, exactly the kind of surreal, dreamlike story I was looking for. By direction, animation, and sound, it really feels like a nightmare. There's so much to dig into I'm kind of at a loss for words. I was particularly impressed by the animation of subtle body language, like eye movements, that conveyed so much. It's only one episode, I've got no idea how this will turn out, but there's a confidence and vision here that gives me high hopes that this could be something special.

WIXOSS was interesting because at least in the first season there was this oppressive atmosphere and a promise for a really interesting mystery, and I really liked the fan theory that the main character might have been some form of functional psychopathy so the story was them trying to figure out how to connect to other humans beings but that didn't I think come to anything
The recap movie does a bit more with this by giving her and Ulith some backstory flashbacks that draw a line connecting them, give Ulith more characterization, and end with a resolution where both Ulith and her find some kind of catharsis. It definitely seems like they were angling for some kind of sociopathy that both she and Ulith have, and how they cope with that is why one of them is the protagonist and one of them is the antagonist.

It's a shame it's buried in a movie that's 80% recap because the new stuff adds a ton to the story. I've been tempted to make an edit of the TV series that inserts the film's new scenes.

Are they animating on the 2's or the 1's in WEP? It's super fluid, like the sort of fluid you pretty much only see in movies with a substantial budget or Kyoto Animation series. The rest of the stuff Cloverworks has been usually good, but nothing Kyoto level before

Pretty sure it varies - my understanding is that it would be very rare for any show, anywhere to have perfectly consistent frame-pacing across a whole episode.

This isn't really my wheelhouse, but I actually noticed a couple bits in WEP that had kind of jerky animation.

Yuu and Nobu are practicing manzai (a two-person comedy act) act on the roof of the school. At the same time, the school building is overflowing with the presence of non-human "something else." It is said that if a person dies after being bitten by one of them, it will turn into the same "something else" and attack people. In the chaos of the school, Will Yuu, Nobu, and the other surviving students be able to escape from its evil hands?

Turns out that this wasn't a full series by the way, just a one-off OVA episode that aired as part of Gekidol's premiere. It wasn't very good anyway, so no big loss.

It's an adaptation of an original yuri horror thriller novel series inspired both by Roadside Picnic and by online horror stories akin to Slenderman.

A large part of the SCP mythos is the interaction with the SCP foundation, not just the weird, bizarre, and dangerous anomalies that exist in their universe.

Without some sort of foundation analog I really wouldn’t consider most stories to be heavily drawn from the SCP wiki unless they are taking very specific entities from entries and importing them over.

It's hard to tell things about the pacing from one episode. But it was 0.4 seconds before the first *adjusts glasses* and the rest of the episode was dense fantasy politics, drip-fed worldbuilding and ill-fitting comedy bits.

Which is what I'm here for, so...
