This is another example of fash projection. They need places like Portland to be burnt to the ground by bussed-in Soros anarchists because they travel from out of town and out of state to places like Portland and DC and Houston and loving Lansing and harass and threaten the local citizens as part of their “protests,” and they know it. That, for example, BLM protestors are just locals who want their city to be run better is anathema to them. It’s the same reason they think accusations of bigotry are just posturing by leftists trying to “cancel” enemies: they can’t imagine someone just caring about fellow human beings who are different from themselves. I tried asking for an example of a specific freedom that was being limited; beyond a vague "it's an across the board problem", I couldn't get a straight answer out of them.

Part of the problem is it's hard to argue with these folks because they repeat the batshit things they hear on Fox News, etc. They will say, "well, what about X?" and unless you're very tuned into the RWM, you won't know what they're talking about. It's argument via non-sequitur.

Edgar Allen Ho posted:they can’t imagine someone just caring about fellow human beings who are different from themselves. I got directly accused of this by my cousin. He's convinced that "BLM policies" would be disastrous for the Black community and that they have already been rejected by that community. (I'm sure this is probably referring to some random poll published by FreedomEagleJustice.com where 115% of POC say they don't want to reduce police budgets or something.) He says that not only is this true, but that I personally know it's true and want to push this anyway. Because I don't actually care about Black people, I just want to use them as cover for my plan to implement Marxism so that I can cancel anyone who disagrees by calling them a racist. (He's definitely not a racist, by the way, he just knows that "Violent Fentanyl Floyd" was no saint.)

That's one my dad uses. He says that any laws directed at black people to help them are setting low expectations for them and will result in poor performance. For example, when I pointed out that Alabama was requiring voter ID and was making it more difficult for black people to get a driver's license by closing the ID stations in black areas, he asked "don't you think that black people are smart enough to figure out how to get a driver's license?" Mind you, he's prime boomer and throws a fit at anything that makes his life more inconvenient.

I got the "oh you don't think black people can figure it out? That makes you the Real Racist All Along" SO MUCH from my old coworkers. Even after I pointed out things like "hey you know how you complain about having to take a day off to go to the dmv cause they're only open til 4? It's like that but worse!"

I'm convinced that the whole "Obamagate" so-called scandal was made up specifically for this purpose. Sean Hannity ranted about it for years, never saying anything definitive or making concrete accusations, but alluding to so many potential wrongdoings that it became the ultimate whataboutism. So, whenever Trump did something blatantly immoral or illegal, people could turn around and say "well what about Obama's illegal FISA warrants, huh?!" and that would be the end of that, because anybody who didn't already agree with them would have no idea what the gently caress they were talking about.

I hate that I've listened to enough Hannity to know this, but Obamagate was clearly defined. I may have some of the smaller details wrong but Obamagate is: 1) Hillary Clinton made secret payments to a law firm to hire Christopher Steele to create the fake dossier full of Russian lies. 2) The fake dossier gets used by Obama and the FBI to illegally obtain FISA warrants, claiming that Trump is potentially compromised in some form by the Russians. 3) They illegally spy on the Trump campaign.

It actually wouldn't because members of Congress don't get impeached, they can just be expelled. Impeachment also doesn't necessarily result in removal from office, as we can see from Clinton and Trump. This loving idiot is in Congress and didn't even know that. I know a lot of them are being disingenuous but goddamn I hate this talking point about "Trump said to protest peacefully and patriotically, he's not to blame!" "All he said was that this store was a nice place and he'd hate to see something happen to it! He was even expressing concern for the store, he's clearly not to blame!"

My sister and brother in law are definitely going down that path. Today, my sister posted a picture of a bucket of popcorn and a fountain soda. Someone asked her if theaters were open again and she said no but that she was ready to watch something. Eventually, my brother in law said that they were watching for the collapse of the government a d the first response was about how Democrats cheated. God drat, it sucks being a us history/government teacher when your own family is too far down the rabbit hole to understand it. To think, it all started with them just complaining about taxes and guns. Edit: Also forgot to mention that my sister works for a government agency and my brother in law works for the highly subsidized oil industry. Strangely, taxes going for that is okay though.

My boss at work is loving salivating at the idea that they're going to declare martial law for some non-reason. That Joe Biden's secret police are going to round up everybody who didn't vote for him and stick them in camps. But it's ok, because everybody knows Trump really won the election and he's going to be sworn in next week after unleashing all of the evidence he has on the deep state.
