It's a shame people are less religious as they have just shifted christian concept of being rewarded for suffering onto working in a call centre rather than a metaphysical relationship with God. Maybe in 500 years people will look back on this period and look at all our art and culture and not get in because its all a bit

Another cracker in yesterday's Morning Star that I heard no where else, there's a bill going through the Lords, the Covert Human Intelligence Sources Bill that is trying to make it illegal for under-18s to be used as undercover sources for the filth. And of course, our bold opposition have largely abstained with the notable exception of Baroness Shami Chakrabarti. Hell to the yeah.

Hell to the yeah. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/jan/11/labour-facing-another-split-over-police-immunity-in-spy-cops-bill I think you'll find she's just trying to cause trouble by not abstaining on this piece of poo poo bill quote:Labour sources complained that Chakrabarti was trying to inflame internal divisions between the Corbyn and Starmer supporting wings of the party. One said there had been “no real attempt” to engage with the party leadership on the issue. where the party leadership at is quote:Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, had called on the party to abstain over the bill, arguing that statutory regulation of undercover operatives would have been necessary if the party had been in power, after the government only narrowly won a court case over the issue. hey we'd do something just as poo poo so it's fine! they've proposed some obviously doomed amendments apparently, but given Keith's MO I can't see them going back to amend it if he ever did win power XMNN fucked around with this message at 10:50 on Jan 15, 2021 |

The idea is eventually there will be fatigue from the public as you can't just continually get mad at one thing forever unless you are UKMT goon levels of broken. The alternative option is everyone is so mad about the school meals that they can pass other heinous poo poo on the sly that is less powerfully emotive.

peanut- posted:Because I got so many good suggestions last week, anyone have inspiration for Jerusalem artichokes? Do not listen to the naysayers! Jerusalem artichokes are the finest vegetable. They are best peeled and roasted, at a fairly high temperature so they brown outside (they should be mushy inside). You can add things if you like (eg garlic, leeks, butter, or just gravy). A common alternative is soup. It's good as soups go, but roasting is better.
