It's a very interesting story and it's going to completely suck when it's time to flip the switch and reset everything back to square one for the umpteenth time.

Idle curiosity, how are, like, the Avengers or, I dunno, the rest of humanity dealing with mutants being functionally immortal? I mean, quite terribly, obviously, but you’d think that’d cause an existential crisis or something. As much as we handwave comics deaths away, that’s a whole new level of “eh, but a door, blah blah blah” for one subset of the population but not the rest.

They probably lock them in that interdimensional prison from Civil War. You can live forever, in THE HOLE!

I hate that I'm now interested in the X-Men, because I only noticed their poo poo went buck-wild about a year after it started. And now it's COMPLETELY nuts in ways I love, but I can barely understand it when it comes up.

they have been moderately successful at keeping that fact secret despite it not being a secret at all to mutants.

The Immortal She-Hulk one shot had a brief exchange between She-Hulk and Wolverine. They were fighting a mutant called Tantrum, and Wolverine straight killed him to She-Hulk's surprise. He mentioned Krakoa has "healers" that can fix him up, so it's looking like the Avengers, or anyone else, don't really know all the details about the whole functional immortality thing.

Nessus posted:According to Magneto, noted right-be-er, the mutant plan is to use capitalist methods from their magical mutant island to gradually squash the flatscans into either not being racist assholes, or into being self-policing racist assholes dependent on mutant beneficience to continue having their current standard of living. Krakoa seems to be a Star Trek style soft post scarcity where there are presumably limits on some things (notably, resurrection throughput) but there isn't want for the standard requirements of life, either through general Krakoa beneficence or because you can just go find a mutant with a relevant power to do you a solid if you need it. That certainly is how they are selling it to themselves. But it sounds like all Magneto and Charles have done is become Centrists with a large number of Right wing Neo-Cons in the cabinet. Then again from reading HoX and PoX, one of the underlying themes always was that Charles Dream this time would fail because they were more human than they'd like to admit*. * = Which is also why they'll never be wiped out. Skwirl posted:I mean, read Marauders if you wanna know what's up with Shinobi Shaw. But basically people in the upper management of the fledgling government get to skip the line and others are allowed to skip the line if the government wants them too. Capitalist failsons have to be protected by the new system. Sounds right

I don't know if you're joking or not, but that's not what's happening. The brain-wave scanner, every time it's used on someone new, has to learn that person's mental vocabulary, so to speak - which brain patterns correspond to real-world images and ideas and so on. So it's basically just reading a picture dictionary at him very quickly. It's also very painful to be in the scanner, which is why he looks so aggrieved by apples. Darthemed posted:
