Crying, traumatized doctors working in a parking lot with no equipment in the middle of winter in front of their fully stocked and functional hospital that the police are keeping them out of on behalf of the owner who decided to shut the company down because it wasn't making enough money in the middle of a pandemic.

So lemme see if I get this right Bezos can't pay taxes because he'll take all of Amazon and leave the US with it? The warehouses the carriers the tech team? I feel like that's actually not a thing he would do ever?

Amazon actually has physical stuff, but it's no coincidence that Google for example has their European HQ in Ireland because they made a deal so they wouldn't actually pay taxes there. I'm assuming Amazon could do a lot more bare bones in Usa and move development and tech stuff to India or something. With the same Americans actually working on it, just as contractors in companies that somehow only just manage to break even and thus dying have to pay taxes.

Can I just whine for a minute on how stupid "tax and spend" is as a rhetorical phrase Like would you rather the government not spend the tax money it collects?? At least make it "spend and tax" to reenforce the stupid idea that they are using the taxes to pay for excessive spending or whatever rather than just... spending tax money...

To most people taxes are a bad thing, and the spending part implies wastefulness. And let's be honest the MIC is hilariously wasteful but of course they never mention that. It's always focused on spending money on "the undeserving".

No I totally get that, I'm saying "tax and spend" is less effective at achieving that specific goal than "spend and tax" would be. The second one more heavily implies that those darn wasteful politicians are gonna spend a bunch of money first, and then raise your taxes to cover their horrible dastardly spending, whereas "tax and spend" is just... how taxes work... Like beyond it being an awful thing used to shut down suggestions that we help the needy, it's also just a stupid statement by its own standards which makes it even worse
