At one point I walked by a row of occupied slots and one of the old ladies that was playing appeared to have died and was being tended to by paramedics. All the machines on both sides of her were being used and all of the people were hyper focused on their machines to the point where no one seemed to even notice that there was a person either dead or possibly dying next to them. Like, their eyes never for a single second drifted from watching their machines as they pushed the buttons. It was such a wtf moment that I'll never forget. A buddy of mine works security at a casino and told me a similar story once. An old man had a heart attack while playing on a slot machine and fell off his stool. The paramedics come in and start performing CPR on him, and this other old lady shows up and pushes past them to get at the machine he was just on. She refused to leave so my buddy had to come down and physically remove her. He also told me lots and lots of stories about people committing suicide on the premises after losing all their money.
