QAnon is obviously bigger than Trump but I wonder how much of it was fuelled by the weird chaotic “anything could happen” feeling of the Trump administration and a president dull white guy takes the wind out of it.

I mean the loss is damaging sure to the qult sure but often when attempting to address dysfunctional behaviour: boredom, just refusing to indulge it and starving it works better than anything else.

Of course it would be over optimistic on my part to assume 2021 won’t also be full of more insane bullshit to puzzle over, but I do think how having a president who responds predictably rather than inscrutably would affect them.

You're not David Attenborough
One minor but pleasing consequence of Trump losing his job at the White House: Ezra Cohen-Watnick also lost his at the Pentagon, which seems to have come as something of a relief to him. He's an awful person (a Trump loyalist who, among other things, he promoted the Trump Tower fake-wiretapping 'scandal', which is probably what got him into this predicament). But for at least two years, there's been a Q-esque poster on Twitter heavily hinting that they're him, first by using his first name, and then simply going by some variation on 'E' (@Ethefriend, @YourfriendlyE, @Ewillhelpyou; I'm pretty sure the current one is @SilentWarRoom):

https://twitter.com/SilentWarRoom/status/1349397435215392772

At the height of the QAnon insanity, 'E' (who posted direct to Twitter) was almost as popular a prophet as Q (who never did), and Cohen-Watnick has now come out to say how amazingly awkward the whole business was for him personally:

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/19/qanon-trump-ezra-cohen-watnick-460520

I don't know what Twitter or other social media platforms can do about this sort of nod-and-a-wink semi-impersonation, but from the point of view of Cohen-Watnick, it seems an Aesop's fable: flirt with the Conspiracy, and the Conspiracy will embrace you as its Inside Man in the Pentagon, and no-one will believe that the conspiracy-stoker who LARPS as you on Twitter and is currently trying to explain why Trump failed to #FreeAssange is not, in fact....you.

Flynn, I think, is scum. His stuff in Turkey demonstrates that 100% and he just needs to be put in a cell somewhere and forgotten about.

Surely some have posted enraged screeds about horrible, evil, pedophile libs just before or just after having masturbated to illegal child pornography.

Much like the insurrectionists with blue lives matter flags assaulting cops while storming the capitol during the constitutionally mandated vote counting so that they can protect the constitution and rule of law by violently forcing officials to take actions they aren't constitutionally capable of performing and over turning the legally certified vote counts.

Flynn was openly embracing Qanon and he had to know it was all bullshit so he's definitely worse than Lin Wood and Sydney Powell. Lin Wood just has brain problems, as he's claimed to be Jesus Christ before, so while he's absolutely awful he probably seriously can't tell what's made up or not.

Sydney Powell I think is a grifter, she pulled her lawsuits over the election recently which says to me she's smart enough to realize that's a dead end for future fame/fortune for her.

Empathy and understanding, honestly. Belief in conspiracy theories is a symptom of stress and anxiety, coupled with humans' deep-seated fear of embarrassment and shame. Deprogramming is very possible, but it involves honest conversation and slowly unraveling their worldview ("Okay, you don't trust the mainstream media. Why do you trust some guy on YouTube? Except like, isn't he a big enough figure in their Qdrops (or whatever the term is) to know they arent real? Im genuinely asking, I've followed news stories about these people since before trump won, but I haven't read enough of their actual bullshit to know how big a character Flynn is in the mythology, but I thought Q had portrayed him as someone at least partially involved in whatever was going on.

He must've known that there was no decades long military plot to install trump, or fight "the cabal", and that Q was totally full of poo poo at least where it concerned him, right?
