I had a dog like that years ago, he was a rottweiler/labrador cross as best we could tell. I was living in the country at the time (late 80s), and he wandered in off the highway, no tags no collar, very hungry and skinny. We just called him Dog, because he was such a good boy we figured someone would come along sooner or later and claim him. No one did, and when we moved to the city in '94 we left him with a neighbour down the road who was worried about her grown sons leaving and not being safe, being an older lady by herself in the country. I visited a couple of times when I was old enough to drive up by myself, and he lived until 99, still called Dog. He might have had some collie in him as well, because he could run forever when he was young. He looked like he'd murder children for fun but he was the sweetest, gentlest dog I've ever met.
