Honestly, as with so many of their other bullying anti-sovereignty/territory creep campaigns, the world just needs to be unified and act as one in the other direction of recognizing Taiwan's independence and letting the Mainlanders throw their tantrum until they tire themselves out, then move on from there.

I remain convinced that the outgoing state department moves were Pompeo just doing whatever the gently caress he wants without consulting Trump. The gently caress is Trump gonna do while being teed up to be the first executive to ever be convicted on impeachment and probably prosecuted by his successor on multiple charges from tax evasion to sedition in a grim modern-day echo of the Cadaver Synod? Dumpster only has so much attention to go around. He was pretty bored with international politics, there are only so many countries you can piss off. So he went domestic. Concentrated on George Floyd  , his ego/money rallies, COVID then election. If someone did a study I wouldn't doubt there is a strong correlation between Cabinet activity, increased competency and orange's attention. If he spots you he is going to try to take credit and inject his brain worms into it repeatedly. I have to wonder how many things Cabinet had to talk him out of or work around him. There are plenty of stories like it.Pompeo was absolutely doing his own thing. He was almost daily coming out with something new, yet orange never showed, not a squeak. That report and change in classification on Uyghur genocide was way too coincidental to be something they just managed to make a determination after two years when everyone else including Biden was already blasting them 6 months ago. The invitation to the inauguration was definitely a signal that Biden admin has got Taiwan's back without directly talking. It takes a dig at the suddenly cancelled foreign trips to Taiwan. Biden has a poo poo ton on his plate, so I wouldn't be surprised if international politics takes a back seat for the next month. Pompeo's moves aren't objectionable, and I don't think Biden minds it. If anything it gives him an advantage as he doesn't need to spend energy to cross that line which he was no doubt was already going to do. e: Looks like I caught the attention of another tankie.

I have had Chinese nationals tell me they support Trump, because he was loud enough to light a fire under the CCP to prompt them to localize all chip development and generate nationalism, but incompetent enough as to not be a real threat to the country. I exchange twitter DMs with this one guy who's the son of a factory owner. The only job he's ever had was working in a Huawei retail store. He lost the job but blamed it on American tariffs preventing Huawei phones from entering the market and therefore causing layoffs. I've had to explain to him that there's nothing actually stopping Huawei phones from being sold here, but he's incredibly dedicated to the brand. Other than that he sends me pics of his weekly vacations while I send back pics of things I see in New Jersey
