My mum likes sending me gigantic animal stickers via text, I think it's adorable I did have to check her phone contract though, can't imagine how much she'd be paying otherwise. Flying from London. When we're being told to stay at home and only make necessary travel. Breaking lockdown to appeal to his own vanity. I did try foie gras once because it was offered and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and it's honestly bizarre. It was grated over the dish and both looked at tasted almost like strong cheese. Nice enough but insanely rich and I don't think I'd want it very often even ignoring the welfare issues. Posh foods that do deserve their rep though: truffles. gently caress me those things are incredible.

Apparently the plan in England is to just ignore Scotland's breakup texts and hope they never actually change the locks. Right now the popularity of independence is 58% in Scotland, 48% in Northern Ireland, and 25% in Wales. The traditional justification for maintaining the union was economic, and that is clearly straight out the window at this point (not to mention a lot of the independence voters would still want self determination even if England was shipping them a Rolls Royce every year). And given that none of the UK-wide parties seem to have any plans about remedying all that, I'd wager those numbers can only go up. https://www.npr.org/2020/12/15/946242592/support-for-scottish-independence-is-growing-partly-due-to-u-k-s-covid-19-respon Kaal fucked around with this message at 20:52 on Jan 25, 2021 |

I mean Ireland alone would be happy to help Scotland keep on its feet, if only to encourage Northern Ireland to make the same move. They could even invite Wales and create a United Kingdom of Independent Peoples, and then heat Scottish homes with Tory rage for the next 20 years. Besides which, sometimes people want a divorce no matter how much jewelery they get offered. And England doesn't look like it'll be living large any time soon. Scotland would probably sort themselves out at least as well as they will under a Tory-Brexit UK (I mean look at how Ireland fared after they left the union) but this issue is not primarily driven by economics. It's going to be wild to watch this government, which has just slammed Brexit into existence in large part on the basis of "some things are more important than economics and free travel, like sovereignty, national identity and culture!" turn round and try to talk Scotland into staying in a political union that it feels increasingly divorced from culturally on the basis of economics. As someone who generally wants the union to stick around in some form (Federalism and the breakup of England now, please...), it's also going to be depressing watching all the same mistakes and misjudgements made by the Remain campaign in the Brexit referendum all over again - telling Scotland that everything's great and any sort of change is scary rather than even trying to offer actual solutions to problems.
