There's a Q&A twitter thread with one of the Fallout: The Frontier mod contributors (they worked mostly on the car stuff) that stated there was no real project management, just a whole lot of chaos. Nothing even as sophisticated as a Trello board - attempts were apparently made to implement such oversight when there were leadership changes but nothing came of it. And if you 'owned' any part of the mod that was a heavily advertised feature then you were basically untouchable. The Legion campaign is supposedly based mostly around exploring the map and such (according to the mod page) but you also lock yourself out of it if you do what seems like a pretty innocuous quest to patrol with some NCR troopers. That poo poo really got out of hand FAST and they do not give you any advance warning.

Off the top of my head: Gomorrah hooks their prostitutes on chems to make them compliant. At least one was murdered and the Omertas covered it up. Cook Cook raped at least two characters (Betsy and Pretty Sarah) and ate a child. Dermot and Saint James sold a family to Cook Cook and Saint James is implied to be a pedophile. Siri warns female couriers that the Legionaries want to "try you out." Jimmy was a Legion sex slave. Yeah, most of the weird stuff in New Vegas is a flavor of obviously-comedic (Fisto!) or inept (Betsy). I never got the idea that anyone was getting off on it, working out their own issues, or trying to be edgy--though I remember little of Dermot or Saint James so they might fit that bill. I don't think you're going to find any defenders of the inclusion of Cook-Cook in New Vegas, but there's a very clear difference both in intent and credibility that goes along with the tone both of those moments and the tone of the game and mod themselves. Edit: Like, the rest of New Vegas is clearly not being someone's furaffinity account, as opposed to opening up the Crusaders tower and seeing everyone sporting giant breasts.

The culture of modding on nexus meant basically everybody was inured to Weird Fucky Bullshit with no real sense of shame, and if there was anybody who wasn't, they'd get shouted down for harshing someone's deathclaw sex/bomb collar sex slave buzz and they wouldn't be able to do anything about it. The whole thing could've and should've used a project manager with, just, like, any sense of decency or standards. But what they got was, what, a psycho who screamed at people for wanting to fix his lovely (and embarrassingly badly scripted, both code and writing) NCR campaign? A bunch of horny perverts? One of which was a documented pedo, so when things were going south and they started getting feedback from people outside of nexus' fucky echo chamber, he became the perfect fall guy and patsy to blame for the mod being taken down. But bear in mind it's not like this guy's body of work was a secret, they all continued to work with him until it became publicly embarrassing. Same with whoever wrote the rest of the hosed up fetish stuff. And lol at presenting the loving Legion or the Titsaders of Steel as "the interesting campaigns" as an alternative to the NCR. I won't be surprised if the creep who wrote the America slave companion questline managed to get away scot-free with the pedo taking all the heat. Fallout Frontier basically encapsulates the bulk of the issues with modding culture, and the nexus' modding culture in particular. I might feel bad for a lot of the people who just wanted to contribute something cool to a big, ambitious mod but. This is just typical nexus bullshit.
