One reason is they do have to power down then engines as tankers that sink love to torpedo directly to the floor. They have to do the mayday, report positions and alert off duty crew.

Because you never abandon a floating ship (there are exceptions but that situation wasn't one). You're much more likely to be to spotted, rescued, and survive if you stay aboard. It's rule #1 of safety at sea. You prepare, you communicate, you gather the crew, and the master decides when to abandon. Plenty of ships have been abandoned only to float on, sometimes for weeks or months. For all they knew, the front could have fallen off and the rest of the hull could have survived. I'd much rather take my chances in a flooded but floating hull versus a raft or survival suit in the water.

Yeah the crew seems to be Russian, they talk about getting into suits, which if they're anything like diving ones, can take forever. And there's also other crew around somewhere, so apparently they still coudln't get two.

The crazy thing is there are two other ships RIGHT THERE. I don’t speak Russian but if I were that captain I’d be doing my damnedest to get the mayday out to them so they can help before we all bail off the ship In the beginning of the video you can see the front of the ship flexing ever so slightly.

But those ships are likely miles away.

Mostly stuff like "my vessel broken" but it's scattered in there. Someone always knows a little english for this reason. Bunch of international rules and regulations to maintain a standard.

Unless there's a way to drop the tailgate, I don't know of a good way to put that pallet of bricks in the truck bed. Also, secure the load before lifting, get some cling wrap or straps or something.

If they’re dry and the right size, yeah... Having flashbacks to middle school, swimming was part of the required curriculum (ocean/island community) and there were a few times we’d do some survival suit training as well. An already-wet and ill-sized suit is like the hardest god drat thing to put on, ha.
