But I don't think it's that strange to expect some extra compensation for the added hardship that the job requires (or even just the normal amount of compensation for the skill level). Yeah but have you considered it's ultimately funded by a research council, ie an organisation that's underbudgeted to the point of dysfunction and under extremely stupid political pressure on top of having finance people that make the jobcentre look like a generous source of free money.
